  • Patent number: 9797680
Abstract: A secure storage system may provide secure, portable, and rapidly accessible storage for articles such as firearms. Such a system may have a shell with first and second shell members that can be closed to keep the articles secure, or opened to provide accessibility. A locking mechanism may be used to lock the shell in the closed configuration. The locking mechanism may be controlled by a wireless receiver that receives a signal to unlock the shell. The shell may have a signal-permeable layer that enables the signal to pass through the shell. The first and second shell members may have mounting features that enable articles within the shell to be secured to the shell in a variety of positions and/or orientations. The system may also include a location sensor that detects the location of the shell and notifies the user when the shell is outside an approved zone.

  • Publication number: 20160042582
Abstract: A lock, such as a padlock or a door lock, having radio frequency identification (RFID) and/or Bluetooth capabilities is disclosed. The control system in the lock may obtain identifying information from a user device presented close to the lock, and operates an actuator to unlock the lock based on the identifying information. The lock may include both an RFID reader and a Bluetooth system in a single device, and may automatically lock and unlock the lock by detecting a presence or an absence of a user device near the lock. At least a portion of a front face of the lock may be made of non-metallic material. The lock may include an indicator for indicating a power-on state, a Bluetooth connection status, a locked or unlocked status, and/or a low-battery state.

  • Publication number: 20140366333
Abstract: A fastener for securing rebar rods that is a generally planar, elongated main body selectively deformed into a closed loop. The fastener can also include a head end integrally formed with the main body having a buckle and an opening. A tail end depends from the main body that has a plurality of substantially flat, spaced-apart, and staggered engaging members, or barbs. The rods are secured by folding the tail end around the rods and inserting the tail end into the opening of the buckle and twisting the tail end so that a barb engages an edge of the buckle.
