    Abstract: A humerus-stabilized shoulder stretching device including a first rod, gripping handle coupled to the first rod, force handle, and stationary arm having a first portion and a second portion oriented relative to each other by an angle. The first portion of the stationary arm is coupled to the gripping handle by the first rod and the force handle is coupled to stationary arm via the second portion. An elbow cradle having a base coupled to the stationary arm is configured to accommodate a user's arm such that when the user's elbow is within the elbow cradle and the user grips the gripping handle with the hand of that arm, the user's forearm will be releasably constrained between the gripping handle and the elbow cradle and the distance between the base and the gripping handle will be maintained by the first rod at a length approximately equal to the user's forearm.

The diaphragm creates an airtight seal between the fluid chamber and the air chamber when a self-centering and trapezoidal shaped wedge compressively forces the diaphragm into a trapezoidal shaped perimeter cavity surrounding the chambers. Any leak from the fluid chamber into the air chamber is detected by a fiber optic system comprising two optical fibers that are disposed at an angle that is calculated to enable light to pass between the fibers only in the presence of a liquid having a predetermined index of refraction. The fiber optic system can also be used to determine the stroke of the pump by disposing the fiber optic lines at an angle calculated to reflect light off of the oscillating diaphragm when the diaphragm arrives at a predetermined location.

    Abstract: A pump for ultra-pure fluids, such as hot, de-ionized water, processing acids, and the like, such as those used in the semiconductor processing industries, is designed to operate at greater than 10 and often 30 or 50 million cycles without failure, and to be failclean. A diaphragm pump maintains a free diaphragm, supported in a contoured chamber for driving and being driven by a piston, able to move radially, rather than absorbing misalignment or distortions. A self-energizing, self-centering, trapezoidal seal captures a constant-thickness diaphragm between a head and body forming the chamber of the pump, separating a body portion and a head portion. An oriented, calendered, multi-layered chlorofluorocarbon diaphragm may be the same material chemically as the body, head, or both. Non-reactive pilots control an operating (motive) fluid, detecting the end-of-stroke whether near the head or near the body.

    Abstract: Sealing assemblies are illustrated for heaters, pumps, conduits, and the like for handling process fluids used in the semiconductor-processing industry. Clean, particle-free, nonreactive, non-trapping, ultra-pure, thermally tolerant, sealed systems are required to maintain process fluids with contaminant levels below parts per billion, or even trillion. A lip seal connects a tube, having a lip at each end, to a face of a creeping material. A creeping fluorocarbon sealing material may form the interface for reducing stress concentrations on the tube, and for providing a consistent reliable seal between the lip and the creeping face. A face seal between creeping faces may be effected by a creeping sealant there between. The faces may be loaded entirely by their own creeping structural materials. No flanges are required. In certain embodiments, retaining rings may be provided for preventing unrestrained creep of sealing assemblies.

    Abstract: A hand held tool for inserting a forward end of a cylindrical insert member into an open end of a relatively thick-walled plastic tube. The tool comprises a pistol grip having a hand engaged member that is squeezed by one's hand. A push shaft is positioned at the top end of the pistol grip, with the push shaft having a forward end that extends away from the pistol grip. The hand engaged member cooperates with a mechanism for moving the push shaft forward in longitudinal movement along the longitudinal axis of the push shaft when the hand engaged member is squeezed. A housing extends from the pistol grip around and along the push shaft, with a distal end of the housing extending beyond the forward end of the push shaft. An access opening is provided in the housing through which the forward end of the push shaft is accessible for positioning the cylindrical insert member in axial alignment with the longitudinal axis of the push shaft at the forward end of the push shaft.

    Abstract: Chemical pumps are disclosed in which all parts wetted by the fluid being pumped are made of fluoroplastic material, with the pumps having check valves that include floating ball members and O-rings positioned adjacent to the floating ball members. The retainer area in which the O-ring is received has a diameter that is at least about 0.01 inch larger that the diameter of the O-ring so as to allow the O-ring to move slightly. The intake and discharge ports of the pumps comprise a bore extending into the body of the pump, with a threaded counterbore formed concentric with the bore to form a flat, annular surface between the bore and the counterbore at the inner end of the counterbore. A threaded fitting is received in the counterbore, and a seal is formed by compressing an O-ring against the annular surface at the inner end of the counterbore.

The improved cable cutting hydraulic tool comprises dual manually held handles which centrally receive and exhaust the operating pressurized hyraulic fluid, a safety trigger assembly which prevents the inadvertent closing of the cutting or crimping jaws, and an operating trigger assembly, a control valve which directs and redirects the flow of hydraulic fluid under pressure, and a piston cylinder assembly which relatively reciprocates to displace operating rods which in turn causes the cutting jaws to close and open by rotation about a pivot pin. This cable cutting and crimping tool is light weight and compact in comparison with other contemporary designs and is much easier to handle and control during use.
