  • Publication number: 20150077788
Abstract: Methods and systems for managing the rendering of documents in a rendering queue. In general, a set of criteria can be established for ranking a group of rendering jobs in a rendering queue. One or more jobs among the group of rendering jobs can be identified, which potentially constitutes a low value document. An alert can then be generated indicating that one or more of such jobs is potentially a low value document. Thereafter, a particular action can be instituted with respect to the identified job(s) if it is confirmed based on the alert that the identified job(s) is a low value document. Such a particular action can involve, for example, rendering (e.g., printing) the idenfitied job(s), modifying the idenfied job(s), preventing rendering of the identified job(s), etc.

  • Publication number: 20150054975
Abstract: A system creates an electronic file corresponding to a printed artifact by launching a video capture module that causes an imaging sensor of a mobile electronic device to capture a video of a scene that includes the printed artifact. The system analyzes image frames in the video in real time as the video is captured to identify a suitable instance. The suitable instance is a frame or sequence of frames that contains at least a portion of the printed artifact and that also satisfies one or more image quality criteria or other criteria. Upon identification of each suitable instance, the system will automatically cause a photo capture module of the device to capture a still image of the printed artifact. The still image has a resolution that is higher than that of the image frames in the video. The system will save the captured still images to a computer-readable file.

  • Publication number: 20150048934
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for real time dynamic triggering of a conspicuous signal for a vehicle on a path of travel. A sensor array detects environmental factors presenting a predetermined risk to the vehicle. A decision module assesses the environmental factors and the associated risks and determines if the conspicuousness signal is warranted and a type of signal to be made. An actuating module actuates the conspicuousness signal based on the determining of the decision module.

  • Patent number: 8947215
Abstract: A system and method are provided for implementing an automated workstation elevation position tracking and control scheme. Software running on the user's computer generates reminders and/or to forces an individual to periodically readjust the height of the workstation in a manner that promotes standing while at work. A current position, and an elapsed time that the workstation has been at the current position, is detected with an objective of providing pre-programmed routine or random automated reminders to a user to change the current position of the workstation from one elevation state to the other. The software tracks the percent of time that a user is standing and optionally compares this with a pre-defined goal. Automatic control via the user workstation, of workstation elevator actuators is provided in a manner that makes it easier, or otherwise unavoidable, for the user to initiate repositioning from a sitting to a standing position.

  • Publication number: 20140043363
Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for image or video personalization with selectable effects. Image data, which can include video sequences or digital still images, can be received in a graphical personalization tool to perform various image processing and related operations to insert personalized objects into the image data. In aspects, the personalized object(s) can be or include graphical inputs such as, for instance, textual information, graphical information, and/or other visual objects. The graphical personalization tool can automatically perform one or more processing stages in the image path, such as identifying key regions in a still image and/or key frames in a video sequence, in which personalized objects will be generated and inserted. Personalized objects can be extended to additional regions of a still image, can be animated across multiple still images, and/or can be extended to additional frames of a video sequence, all on an automated or user-assisted basis.

  • Publication number: 20120273562
Abstract: An embodiment generally relates to systems and methods for electronically auto-filing and retrieving erasable paper document documents configured for ultraviolet (UV) imaging. A device can embed a machine readable code on an erasable paper document, or can detect a machine readable code preprinted on the document. An electronic version of the erasable paper document along with the machine readable code can be stored in a database. When the machine readable code is later detected on a rendered document, the electronic version corresponding to the machine readable code can be retrieved from storage. The erasable paper document can be re-rendered using the retrieved electronic version either as a new erasable paper document, for display to the user, or other renderings.

  • Patent number: 8194275
Abstract: A class of add-on system components providing functionality of devices, management of self-help, customization and enhancement of services for devices, and remote monitoring at significantly reduced cost. It reduces the cost of UI and greatly enhances ease-of-use by realizing that the networked system can be headless and use a browser-based UI for its platform. It embeds a Device Model Agent (DMA) and connects to the Device-Centric Services platform to offer services. Additionally, it offers customized diagnostic access for customer representatives to enable self-help service actions to be performed, unifies and manages multiple access needs to several disparate data access mechanisms, and uses largely COTS PC hardware rather than customized PWBs.

  • Patent number: 7734749
Abstract: The Device Model Agent (DMA), the device side technology module in Device Centric Services (DCS) system, is the main focus of this invention. DMA is a thin, efficient applications/services execution environment. DMA provides an embedded services platform for enabling system management applications and services. This allows a flexible, extensible, dynamic services management module allowing networked services to be designed, added, and managed within the system without modifications to devices, DCS system, or DMA itself. While this invention specifically describes the integration of benefits from DMA into document system devices, the concepts are equally applicable in other domains. The DMA runtime environment is a thin software interface layer that resides on a document system device between the Java runtime environment and embedded web server.

  • Patent number: 7676191
Abstract: A first and second printing engine are disposed with an intermediate transport belt in U-shaped arrangement. The method employs printing sheets serially on one side in the first engine inverting the sheet and transporting the sheets through about 180° change in direction without rotation. The commonality of the leading edge is thus maintained before and after inverting. The sheet is then fed to the second engine for duplex printing on the second side of the sheet. The second engine may have a media sheet input rotation for simplex printing serially with the duplex printing.

  • Patent number: 7650085
Abstract: A system for automatically detecting the need to service a machine. The system includes a processor and at least one of a device component and a supply component. The processor determines a time at which the device component will require repair or replacement and when the supply component will need replenishment and sends an electronic message addressed to a communication device accessible by the user or supplier. The electronic message includes data which facilitates ordering services and sending the supplies to the user of the machine.
