  • Patent number: 7797231
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for offering loans to users at a point-of-purchase transaction. Such loans are typically offered upon the decline of a user-tendered payment, for example of a credit or debit card or check, and typically at a retail physical location point of sale and/or at a retail website point of sale. The loan offer process is desirably integrated with the merchant's payment processing system. Term sets can be pre-established between the merchant and the loan offerer. Processing to determine whether to offer a loan and under which set of terms is desirably automated such that the decision can be made in substantially real time to motivate the completion of what might constitute an otherwise failed transaction.

  • Patent number: 7729709
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for promoting offered products and services to a plurality of mobile device users. The method generally comprises the steps of generating at least one general broadcast message directed to commercial offers of at least one provider (i.e., retailer) of the offered products and services. The general broadcast message is preferably broadcast from a central server over a prescribed geographic area. Responses from end users to the broadcast message are monitored at the central server to create profile information of the responding users for use in qualifying business relationships with the providers of said products and services. The responses may be further utilized to construct a market directed to inducing the providers of the offered products and services to purchase broadcast message blocks for future promotions. Establishment of such a market includes the establishment of pricing criteria based on user response rate statistics.

  • Patent number: 7475028
Abstract: A system for providing an open-ended subscription to commodity items normally available on a term basis includes a central agent that serves as the front-end for commodity suppliers. This central agent maintains databases containing information associated with a group of commodity items and their sales. Using these databases, the central agent produces subscription records to provide open-ended subscription services to its customers, while supporting the term-based subscriptions of the commodity suppliers.

  • Patent number: 7437316
Abstract: There are provided methods and systems enabling a customer to order products from an audio advertisement, for example from a radio advertisement heard in an automobile, using only a standard audio receiver and mobile telephone. Pre-registration by the retailer advertising the product enables the storing of pertinent product information by a fulfillment center. Pre-approval of mobile telephone service(s) enables billing to be performed through a customer's mobile telephone account. The actual customer order is completed by simply dialing the telephone number transmitted in the advertisement. The remainder of the fulfillment and billing process is substantially automated. More specifically, the fulfillment center uses the dialed telephone number to determine the ordered product and the calling telephone number to determine delivery information.

  • Patent number: 7352899
Abstract: There are provided new and improved methods and systems for producing machine-generated handwriting having realistic human appearance. In various embodiments, the handwriting may include characteristics of particular classes and/or characteristics of particular individuals. The handwriting includes an appropriate degree of randomness so as to be realistic in appearance. In a particular embodiment of the invention, at least one sample of a particular individual's handwriting is scanned and analyzed to determine the characteristics thereof. The handwriting characteristics include a degree of randomness representative of the scanned handwriting sample(s). The handwriting may be printed on a conventional printer, for example to generate a communication for a recipient.

  • Publication number: 20070293289
Abstract: There are provided methods (200) and systems (100) for simulating sports activities. Historical data is aggregated to develop realistic, simulated, fictional players and teams (206, 208). The aggregation of data is sufficient to avoid any discrete identification of a simulated player, team, league or other participant with a real-life equivalent. The historical data collected is sufficient in quantity and type that simulated sports events can be realistically performed in substantially unlimited scope and quantity. Degrees of randomness may be introduced (510) to provide excitement and unpredictability. Non-random variations to the historically based activities can be made (512) so as to alter the fundamental nature of a player, team or league. Outcomes of the simulation can be generated substantially indefinitely to provide long-term entertainment, for example full seasons and multiple seasons/years of sports activities.

  • Patent number: 7146239
Abstract: There are provided methods and systems for manufacturing consumer products such as clothing. In accordance with the invention, customer measurements and preferences are collected by a unique, small-footprint or private custom clothing shop. These measurements and preferences are stored and used in association with the manufacturer of custom clothing. Ordered clothing is manufactured through the provision of patterns, instructions and materials to skilled, pre-qualified sewing associates. In one embodiment of the invention, the consumer products are “broken” into discrete, separately-manufacturable pieces, each piece for assembly by a separate, geographically remote, skilled labor with final assembly of the various pieces is performed at a centralized location. Customized clothing can thus be manufactured by a highly skilled, cost effective and geographically disperse labor force, using electronically stored data and electronic communications to both coordinate manufacturing and ensure high-quality results.

  • Publication number: 20040078273
Abstract: A reason code and token facilitate linking of a primary and secondary merchant to allow the secondary merchant to make an offer to a customer of the first merchant. The website linking system has a reason code, a token, a schema defining information to be passed from a first website, and a validator. The token is constructed to indicate a particular customer of the first website. The reason code correlates to a specified parameter to be used when making an offer to the customer indicated by the token, and the validator and the token are constructed to indicate the schema is a valid schema to the first website. The linked merchant transaction method involves receiving a reason code from a primary merchant for a customer in response to a transaction between the primary merchant and the customer; providing an offering to the customer based upon the reason code; receiving an acceptance from the customer; and in response to the acceptance, receiving customer identifying information from the primary merchant.

  • Patent number: 6360209
Abstract: An improved credit card billing method and system is disclosed which permits multiple items purchased as part of a single transaction or order to be separately billed on a credit card in accordance with a payment schedule designed to minimize inquiries regarding the overall order by the customer. The billing system permits the billing descriptor appearing on the credit card billing statement to have sufficient detail to minimize subsequent customer inquiries. The billing descriptor preferably includes a different customer service number for each individual item. Goods or services are purchased from a merchant in a conventional manner. The customer provides the merchant with a list of the multiple items included in the order, as well as credit card information. The merchant will preferably establish a staggered schedule for billing each individual item in the order and submit the charge requests to the credit card issuer in accordance with the established billing schedule.
