  • Patent number: 6356268
Abstract: A method and system for providing multiple typographic glyph data items to a requesting client from a font scaler sub-system. The method and system includes accepting a request from the client that describes multiple glyphs and a destination memory in which to store the glyphs. From the request, a transaction message is formed and transmitted to a scaler server using an application program interface. The scaler server then generates the multiple glyph data items from the descriptions of the multiple glyphs, and stores the glyph data items directly into the destination memory.

  • Patent number: 5877776
Abstract: A method and system for allowing scalers to support multiple font formats in a graphics system that processes data having a specified font format. The method and system includes actively registering each of the scalers with a font scaler manager by specifying a primary font format and one or more secondary font formats that are supported by each of the scalers. The font scaler manager then selects one of the scalers to process the data by finding a match between the specified font format and the primary font formats registered by the scalers. If a match is not found, then one of the scalers is selected by finding a match between the specified font format and the secondary font formats registered by the scalers.

  • Patent number: 5715473
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a set of variations of control points of a symbol image, such as a glyph, for display of at least one variation of the symbol image on a display device of a computer controlled display system. The method includes providing a first plurality of control points specifying the outlines of the symbol image; providing variation data for specifying a set of variations for at least one of the control points, the variation data identifying the at least one control point and indicating a spatial manipulation of the at least one control point; modifying the first plurality of control points which specify the outline of the symbol image to spatially manipulate the at least one control point so as to provide a second plurality of control points; scan converting the second plurality of control points to provide a displayable representing of the symbol image; and displaying the displayable representation on the display device.

  • Patent number: 4567710
Abstract: A double-glazed, light-transmitting panel having a pair of plastic face sheets permanently bonded to and spaced by a mechanically interlocked I-beam grid core. The grid core employs an I-beam spacer attachment which comprises a plurality of I-beams each having a pair of identical flanges joined by an interconnecting web with each of the flanges being formed with a dovetail keyway, a plastic connector seated upon each I-beam flange and having a dovetail tongue engaging a mating dovetail keyway, and an adhesive layer bonding each face sheet to opposing connectors separated by the I-beams. An alternative embodiment for the plastic connector has a generally U-shaped cross section that snaps on the flange of the channel. A method for fabricating a plastic connector by using the I-beam flange as a mold is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4515211
Abstract: Apparatus for the control of a well fishing line and operable at a location substantially above the wellhead to enable accommodation of cable mounted well tools, line weights, and the like. The apparatus incorporates a cable engaging drive wheel with a reversible hydraulic motor in direct-drive relation with the drive wheel. A pressure roller is in opposed association with the drive wheel and, through a hydraulic cylinder unit, is manipulable to vary the pressure engagement of the cable with the drive wheel for enhanced control of both the introduction and withdrawal of the cable. Both the hydraulic motor and the hydraulic cylinder unit are operable from a remote control station, normally at ground level, for a continuous monitoring of the apparatus notwithstanding its elevated location relative to the wellhead.
