  • Patent number: 6003251
Abstract: A debris separator for a dredge pump includes a body portion having a top ll, a bottom wall, first and second side walls, and an aft end wall, the aft end wall defining a separator outlet for connection to the pump, a funnel portion having an entry end defining a separator inlet and a larger discharge end fixed to a forward inlet end of the body portion. The separator further includes a door hingedly mounted on the body portion first side wall and spring biased to a closed position overlying an opening in the first side wall, and a floor in the body portion slanted toward the bottom wall and toward the first side wall opening. Thus, upon stopping of the pump, back pressure is generated in the body by backflow of water into the separator. Backpressure causes the hinged side door to open. Heavy objects which have fallen to the slanted floor, due to the reduction of flow velocity through the separator, are flushed out of the separator with discharge water.

  • Patent number: 5248200
Abstract: A thermally stable fixture for testing asphalt samples is characterized by easurements of both thermal stresses and strains in the sample. The device uses air as the sample cooling or heating fluid for inducing thermal stresses and strains therein. Strains are detected by a linear variable differential transformer mounted on the sample suspended within the fixture. Stresses are detected by a load cell connected with a mounting plate for the sample. Temperatures are detected by temperature sensors attached to the sample and to the fixture for measuring sample and ambient air temperatures, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5245771
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a road transportable, adjustable or non-adjusta width trailable plow which is adapted to be pulled by a tow vehicle, a four bar linkage interconnects the plow with the tow vehicle allowing the plow to yaw with respect to the vehicle while limiting motion in the pitch plane to parallel displacement, the horizontal links in the four bar linkage are telescopic and spring biased to allow for surge between the tow vehicle and the load and a frame portion securable to the tow vehicle is gimballed with the hitch on an axis parallel to the links for allowing the plow to roll with respect to the tow vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4944543
Abstract: An ice auger extractor for retrieving augers or similar devices from a bore ole includes a cylindrical housing and a spring-biased locking cam positioned in a vertically extending recess. The recess is substantially L-shaped and extends in a portion of periphery of the housing. The cam includes a serrated edge which secures the auger rod within the bore of the housing before its retrieval. A bore adapter may be connected with the housing and includes a substantially L-shaped snagging hook for centering the auger rod in the situation where the free end of the auger rod is embedded in the wall of bore hole. The housing and the bore adapter both include frusto-conical surfaces for guiding the auger rod into the housing.
