  • Patent number: 9632218
Abstract: A two-in-one colored and translucent film structure suitable for use in backlit displays having a multi-point illumination source. The film structure utilizes a colored layer and a light-diffusing layer that reduces variations in the amount of light transmitted through different areas of a backlit sign. The light-diffusing layer includes light-diffusing particles dispersed in a transparent matrix material, and scatters light transmitted therethrough. The light-diffusing particles have an index of refraction that is different than an index of refraction of the matrix material.

  • Publication number: 20060281584
Abstract: A method is disclosed that assists a golf player in finding golf balls that have been lost. The method relies on the presence of materials in the golf ball that emit light at a second wavelength when illuminated by light at a first wavelength. Implementations of such a ball-finding device are disclosed that use blue or near-UV illumination light to create emission at somewhat longer wavelengths. Unlike prior art that uses UV illumination, the disclosed devices do not require proximity to the ball to enhance visual detection of the same.
