Patent number: 9416954Abstract: A light fixture including an electronic housing and at least one optical chamber positioned on each side of the electronic housing. In some embodiments, the optical chambers are positioned a distance from the electronic housing so as to avoid creation of a thermal path between the optical chambers and the electronic housing. Each optical chamber includes a heat sink and a plurality of LEDs mounted on a PCB that is, in turn, mounted on the heat sink. A reflector is positioned over at least a portion of the PCB. In some embodiments, vents extend through the heat sink and a fin extends upwardly from the heat sink and angles at least partially over at least some of the vents. In use, air enters the optical chambers and exits the fixture through the top vents in the heat sink. The air circulates over the reflector, carrying heat from the reflectors during the process. Heat is also conducted to the air from the heat sink.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: ABL IP Holding LLCInventor: Michael Ray Miller

Patent number: 8807619Abstract: The Remote Control Rescue Vehicle is driven by remote control into enemy territory to rescue an injured soldier during battle or in extreme conditions. It can maneuver through very rough terrain and retrieve the soldier with a ramp lowered into position and a conveyer moving backwards through the forward motion of the vehicle will pull the soldier into the vehicle protected by a solid steel armor to be returned safely for triage or surgery.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2012Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Inventor: Michael Ray Miller

Patent number: 8678616Abstract: A lighting luminaire for use in a refrigerated display case includes an LED mounting portion comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes (“LEDs”) mounted thereon, a reflector, and a lens. The LED mounting portion and reflector are sized and arranged to form a reflective cavity for diffusing and directing light from the plurality of LEDs through the lens and out of the luminaire. The LED mounting portion and reflector are either attached to each other as separate components or are integrally formed. The lens is held in place in the luminaire between the LED mounting portion and the reflector or is mounted directly on the LED mounting portion over the plurality of LEDs. The LED mounting portion and/or reflector have a reflective surface for reflecting light emitted by the LEDs. Methods for retrofitting an existing luminaire in a refrigerated display with an LED luminaire are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2011Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: ABL IP Holding LLCInventors: Craig Eugene Marquardt, Miguel Angel Ibanez, Daniel Edward Sicking, Michael Ray Miller

Publication number: 20090002990Abstract: Embodiments of lighting assemblies disclosed herein are particularly designed for installation in display units to more effectively distribute light towards, and thereby better illuminate, the products housed in the display unit. The lighting assemblies include at least one, but preferably a plurality of, light emitting diodes mounted on a frame. The frame is preferably formed so as to have a number of mounting arms on which to mount the LEDs. In this way, the LEDs can be positioned on the arms and their emitted light can be directed to focus on different aspects of the display unit (i.e., the products housed in the unit, banners or advertisements on the unit, etc.). The lighting assemblies may include, but do not have to include, various optical features to enhance the distribution of light emitted from the LEDs, including, but not limited to, lenses, reflectors, etc.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2008Publication date: January 1, 2009Inventors: Aaron James Becker, Shane Elizabeth Bode, Denise Bonsell, Mark Anthony Hand, Michael Ray Miller, Jeffrey Mansfield Quinlan, Gregory Brian Simons
