  • Publication number: 20110236980
Abstract: An apparatus and method based on the apparatus is disclosed for automated single molecule or molecular assemblage detection via light irradiation and detection of transient FRET between a donor or acceptor bound to an immobilized single molecule or molecular assemblage and a corresponding acceptor or donor associated with, covalently bonded to, a reagent, where the donor or acceptor associated with the reagent is transiently in FRET proximity to the acceptor or donor associated with the immobilized molecule or molecular assemblage.
    Type: Application
    Filed: January 6, 2011
    Publication date: September 29, 2011
    Applicant: LIFE TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION
    Inventor: Michael A. Rea
  • Publication number: 20100235105
Abstract: A method to be implemented on or in a computer is disclosed, where the method includes data collection, calibration, candidate selection, and analysis of data streams associated with each candidate to classify single molecule fluorescence resonance energy transfer events. Once classified, the classification can be related to the nature of the events, such as the identification of dNTP incorporation during primer extension to obtain a base read out of an unknown template.
    Type: Application
    Filed: January 12, 2010
    Publication date: September 16, 2010
    Applicant: LIFE TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION
Inventors: Andrei Volkov, Costa M. Colbert, Ivan Pan, Anelia Kraltcheva, Mitsu Reddy, Nasanshargal Battulga, Michael A. Rea, Keun Woo Lee, Susan H. Hardin, Brent Mulder, Chris Hebel, Alok Bandekar

  • Publication number: 20060250038
Abstract: A shaft sealing assembly (10) for providing a seal between a shaft and a housing within which the shaft rotates. The sealing assembly (10) comprises a rotor (40) adapted to be mounted to the shaft and a stator (42) adapted to be mounted to the housing. The rotor (40) and the stator (42) include recesses and/or projections which mate and interlock to form a labyrinth lubricant chamber therebetween. The stator (42) carries at least one electrical-path-establishing element (88) which forms an electrically conductive path between the shaft and an electrical ground to thereby dissipate residual current and/or stray shaft voltage.
