Abstract: A cat scratcher in the form of a rigid shell having a planar base and opposing side walls. The opposing side walls extending diagonally and outwardly from the planar base. A first block of open-fluted cardboard is affixed to the planar base and second and third open-fluted cardboard blocks are affixed to the opposing side walls respectively creating an open space within the rigid shell having three open-fluted cardboard surfaces upon which a cat can scratch.

The cavity is sized such that a retained portion of the rigid insert is captured within the cavity and a portion of the rigid sphere extends outside of said spherical cavity such that during play, a portion of the rigid insert is in contact with a support surface for the pet toy.

Abstract: A vibratory pet toy having a substantially spherical shell with a top and bottom, the bottom having a circular opening. The toy includes a platform being in the form of a circular disc having a disk top, disk bottom and disk circumference sized to fit within and be retained by the circular opening. A plurality of flexible legs are evenly spaced about the disk circumference and extend outwardly of the spherical shell from the disk bottom and a rotational motor positioned within the spherical shell including an eccentric load rotatable by the rotational motor. A power supply for selectively activating the rotational motor completes the toy.

Abstract: A cat scratcher device fabricated from a kit of parts as well as a method for its assembly. The device includes a base and cylinder both having surfaces covered by cat scratching material. The cylinder has a first end and a second end, the first end abutting the base and the second end extending distally therefrom and an end cap sized to fit over the second end of the cylinder which is provided with an opening for receiving a ribbed cable strap fitting. A ribbed cable strap is included in the kit, the first end of which is secured to the end cap and the second end of which passes along the longitudinal axis of the cylinder and through a centrally located disk positioned at the first end of the cylinder and through an opening in the base and secured thereto through the use of a pawl such that when the ribbed cable strap is pulled through the pawl, it is tensioned to secure the cylinder to the base.

A wand and an attractant are provided, the wand having first and second ends, the first end being fixed to the rotatable shaft and the second end being fixed to the attractant. The microprocessor is program to control operation of the motor to cause the want to rotate intermittently, the exterior surface of the housing being a cat scratching surface.

Abstract: A musical hoop toy may be provided with a hoop structure, a sensing mechanism coupled to the hoop structure and being disposed on an interior side of the hoop structure such that, when the hoop structure is spun around a person's waist, the sensing mechanism will be periodically activated by a portion of the person's waist, an audio speaker coupled to the hoop structure, and a controller operatively coupled to the sensing mechanism and the audio speaker. The controller may include a processor, a memory, and a computer program stored in the memory. The computer program may have a computer program portion that causes a music sequence to be generated and a computer program portion that causes an audio sound effect to be generated in response to each activation of the sensing mechanism.
