  • Publication number: 20200026058
Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein provide for substantially uniform steering of multiple laser beams of a laser rangefinder having different wavelengths, such as a rangefinder laser beam and a visible laser beam. This can allow a user of the laser rangefinder to use the visible laser beam to bore sight the range-finding laser beam to a weapon onto which the laser rangefinder is mounted. The uniform steering of the multiple laser beams can be done through the utilization of a Risley prism assembly with one or more Risley prisms having a center portion through which one laser beam travels and at least one annulus through which a second laser beam travels.

  • Publication number: 20190394072
Abstract: An antenna system is provided. In one example implementation, the antenna system may include a modal antenna that is operable in a plurality of different modes, and each mode may be associated with a different radiation pattern. The antenna system may include a tuning circuit configured to operate the modal antenna in the plurality of different modes. A transmission line may couple a radio frequency circuit to the modal antenna. The radio frequency circuit may be configured to modulate a control signal onto an RF signal using amplitude-shift keying modulation to generate a transmit signal for communication over the transmission line to the tuning circuit. The tuning circuit may be configured to demodulate the control signal such that the radio frequency circuit can adjust a mode of the modal antenna via the control signal. In some embodiments, the amplitude-shift keying modulation may include on-off keying modulation.

  • Patent number: 10511093
Abstract: An active antenna for UHF/VHF signal receiving is described, the active antenna being capable of configuration in one of a plurality of possible modes. The active antenna includes an antenna element configured for multiple resonances in the UHF/VHF bands, and capable of generating multiple radiation modes as well as active impedance matching using a microprocessor and multi-port switch having variable or multiple selectable modes. The active antenna may include a second antenna element arranged in a right-angle orientation with respect to the first antenna element. The first antenna element, second antenna element, or a combination may be selected for receiving signals in at a desired frequency. A three-dimensional antenna assembly is also described. Each of the examples illustrate an active beam steering antenna capable of UHF/VHF signal receiving.

  • Patent number: 10408935
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein address these and other issues by providing for an optical tag that uses an optical assembly with beam splitters to allow for simultaneous detection and retro-modulation, as well as the use of a camera to facilitate alignment of the optical tag with a laser interrogator. Additional components may be used to allow for a large aperture to be used, to help maximize light received by the optical tag and minimize diffraction of retro-modulated light, which can significantly increase distances at which the optical tag can operate. Moreover, a beam splitter may further be used to balance the light directed toward an optical sensor and a retro-modulator, to help achieve optimal results.
