  • Publication number: 20240248116
Abstract: For visually impaired users, LED indicators on electrical connectors are difficult or impossible to use. While LED indicators can provide quick and easy visual feedback to users without visual impairment, LED indicators are often problematic, even for those users without visual impairment. For example, placement and brightness of the LED is carefully planned so that the LED is easy to see but not too obtrusive. The presently disclosed technology is directed to tactile electrical connection indicators that supplement or replace the LED indicators on electrical connectors.

  • Patent number: 12038359
Abstract: An automated method for preparing a sample suspension. The sample suspension can be used for both MALDI and antimicrobial susceptibility (AST). A suspension is prepared, and a portion of that suspension is removed for a first analysis (e.g. MALDI), leaving a remaining volume. The turbidity of the remaining volume is measured. If the turbidity is below a first threshold, the suspension is not used for a second analysis (e.g. AST) and is subjected to a concentration protocol to raise the turbidity of the suspension. If the turbidity is within a predetermined range, a volume of the suspension is calculated that will deliver a predetermined amount of sample to a vessel for the second analysis. If the turbidity of the suspension is above the predetermined range, and the suspension has not been diluted a predetermined number of times, the suspension is diluted according to a dilution protocol.

  • Patent number: 11554403
Abstract: In order to provide a balanced bent lip disc, the applicant routinely had issues with rippling at an outer circumference edge of the lip. Due to the geometries involved in a 3½ inch disc bent to provide an outer lip of ½ inch at 45 degrees, 0.1145 of excess circumference is created thereby providing a ripple effect. The applicant discovered that simultaneously embossing the lip while bending the lip could reduce this rippling effect (and the outer circumference at the edge) by at least 75 if not 90 or 95% of a non-embossed lip bent in the same manner.
