  • Publication number: 20220324390
Abstract: There is disclosed a vehicle rack system (2) for mounting atop a roof of a vehicle. The rack system has a support member (4) affixed to the vehicle in use and a carriage (8) for supporting a load. The carriage (8) is attached to the support member such that the carriage (8) is both translatable and rotatable relative to the support member (4) between a storage position and a deployed position. The support member has a rotatable engagement member (10) to engage and support the carriage (8) during translation and rotation between the storage position and the deployed position, where one of the carriage (8) and the engagement member (10) comprises a plurality of spaced protrusions and the other of the carriage and the engagement member comprises a series of recesses at corresponding spacing arranged to receive the protrusions. A rack and pinion system may be used. An axle is used for driving rotation of the engagement member (10) to cause the carriage to move over the engagement member in unison therewith.

  • Patent number: 8303036
Abstract: An aircraft seat having a movable squab and backrest, and a fixed seat chassis is presented. A mechanism for moving the squab and backrest has a linear runner mounted on the seat chassis and includes a linear drive for extending (and retracting) the assembly between a retracted position and an extended position. A first cam track allows adjustment the height of the back edge of the seat squab, the first cam track being generally parallel to the linear runner through the majority of its length and having a rearmost substantially vertical portion. A first cam follower mechanism interconnects a back edge of the seat squab, the first cam track and the linear drive, for motion of the seal squab. A second cam track is provided for adjusting the inclination of the backrest and a second follower is connected to the seatback.

  • Patent number: 7967735
Abstract: An exercise device (20) comprising a resilient force member (6) which is arranged to be acted on by a user and provide resistance against movement by a user over an operative range. The exercise device (20) further includes a mechanical indicator device (1) which directly provides an audible signal at both first and second points of the operative range of the force member (6) to thereby indicate movement of the force member over a required range. The indicator device (1) comprising an audible signal producing member (9) having bistable first and second physical configurations such that a change in physical configuration creates an audible signal. The audible signal producing member (9) being acted on by the resilient force member (6), in use, to change the physical configuration of the audible signal producing member (9) and produce the audible signal.

  • Publication number: 20100201172
Abstract: An aircraft seat a squab 6 and a backrest 8, both being movable, and a seat chassis 1, via which the seat can be fixed to a floor. A mechanism for moving the squab and the backrest has a linear runner 2 mounted on the seat chassis and a seat frame sub-frame 3 bearingly mounted on the linear runner. The squab is pivotally on the sub-frame substantially at its front edge and the backrest is pivotally mounted on the squab substantially at the back edge of the squab and the bottom of the backrest. The mechanism includes a linear drive 4 for extending (and retracting) the sub-frame on the runner with respect to the seat chassis between a retracted, TTL position and an extended position. A first cam track 12 in a first cam track member 11 fast with the seat chassis for adjusting the height of the back edge of the seat squab, the first cam track being generally parallel to the linear runner through the majority of its length and having a rearmost substantially vertical portion 31.
