Abstract: A fitment for use in the discharge of pourable contents from a container wherein the constancy of uniform flow of contents from the container is minimally, if at all, adversely affected by the need for accommodating inflow of ambient air into the container as the contents are discharged from the container, the fitment including a conduit an exit end having an ellipsoidal cross-sectional geometry including a minor portion and an major portion, the geometry of the conduit exit being oriented uppermost toward (topwise of) the top end of the container. A method is disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved container for food and non-food products. The container utilizes a novel delayed release process to overcome polymer odor-emission problems that detract from a packaged product. The novel process utilizes fragrance molecules or microcapsules which have fragrance molecules contained therein, to impart an enhanced fragrance to the product when the container is opened, increasing consumer appeal.

Abstract: The present invention discloses and teaches an improved fitment for use on paperboard, gable top liquid containers and the like. More specifically the present invention teaches a easy open tamper evident seal including a pull ring attached to the seal by means of a post having an aspect ratio of less than two thereby requiring less pulling force to break the tamper evident seal and remove it from the fitment spout.

Abstract: An opening and closing device for a package containing a pourable product. The device is affixed to the package at the top end of the package and includes a ring affixed to the surface of the package. The ring encompasses an intended pouring opening which is prescored. A combination of a rupture element and a lever arm are hingedly mounted within the ring in position for activation of the rupture element through the lever arm, to rotate the distal end of the rupture element against the prescored region and to partly tear away a tab of the package. Further rotation of the rupture element carries the tab into the interior of the package. Provision is made for retention of the rupture element and tab within the interior of the package out of the flow path of contents being poured from the package through the opening formed by removal of the tab.

Abstract: An oxygen barrier laminate structure for producing an aseptic, oxygen barrier packaging or container comprising a substrate having an inner surface and an outer surface, a first low density polyethylene layer coated on the outer surface of the substrate, a multi-layer oxygen barrier coextrusion coated interior to the substrate and a second, thick, low density polyethylene layer coated on the multi-layer coextrusion. An optional extra low density polyethylene layer may be added on the inside surface of the substrate. A photic barrier layer may also be employed.
