  • Patent number: 11795696
Abstract: A roof rock spreader has a rock hopper and a motive drive system. An optical system detects areas already treated and areas still in need of treatment. Location aware sensors detect present location and speed of travel. A control system determines proper application paths and locations, and controls application of roof rock to provide an even and consistent layer. When the rock hopper empties, the roof rock spreader will move to a refill location. A laser alignment system detects and confirms proper hopper positioning prior to automated refill. During the refilling procedure, wheel load sensors monitor hopper fill. Rock hopper refill may be limited, to accommodate gross vehicle weight limitations of a particular roof. A communication system provides remote viewing through the optical system or other camera to confirm proper function, provides remote emergency shut-off, and enables a plurality of like spreaders to work in unison.

  • Publication number: 20230323686
Abstract: An edge safety system comprises at least one edge safety support and a tensioned cable. The edge safety support comprises an edge clamp having a first contact, and a bifurcated clamp leg supporting a second contact and a third contact opposed to said first contact. A clamp driver is configured to generate a clamping force. A standard has a first terminus and is coupled adjacent to the first terminus to and rises from the edge clamp and extends therefrom to a top elevation, and has at least one rope guide. A tensioned cable passes through the at least one rope guide. An optional elevation pole has a foot that is configured to engage with a roof, a riser rising from the foot, and at least one rope guide affixed to the riser, the tensioned cable passing through the at least one elevation pole rope guide.

  • Patent number: 11613041
Abstract: A wheeled conveyance straddles and squeezes a parapet or similar vertical wall from both the inside and outside vertical faces. Side wheels may be adjusted to be closer together or farther apart to accommodate the thickness of the wall being straddled. The conveyance traverses the parapet along the top edge, and at least one fastener driver suspended from the carriage faces one or both of the inside and outside vertical faces at some preferably adjustable distance below the top edge of the parapet. While the conveyance traverses the parapet, an actuator selectively and repeatedly actuates the fastener driver(s). Various sensors and controls are provided that permit the speed, fastener spacing, and travel distance to be adjusted. Position awareness and visual, auditory, and radio communications may optionally be employed.

  • Patent number: 10252470
Abstract: An automated edge band application machine has a board drive assembly and an opposed caster wheel that together capture and move a work piece edge into engagement with a rotating roller banding guide with edge banding captured between. An adhesive affixes the edge banding to the work piece responsive thereto. An edging detector is located along the path of the work piece edge, in a position in advance of the board drive assembly, and is configured to detect a presence of edge band on the edge of the work piece. When the edging detector detects edging, or at a precise distance along the edge band thereafter, a cutting die assembly severs the edge band. The board drive assembly automatically adjusts to varying thickness work pieces, engages with a work piece major surface, and rotates in synchrony with a drive spindle assembly and the rotating roller banding guide.

  • Patent number: 8402870
Abstract: A reconfigurable flying cutting, notching and shaping machine operates upon a workpiece traveling along a generally linear axis of motion. The machine supports one or more flying tools upon one or more splined shafts and provides bearings for travel along a splined shaft in a direction of movement parallel to the direction of work travel. Rotation of the splined shaft is coupled through a double-acting cam to move one or more flying cutting tools transversely to the splined shaft.
