  • Publication number: 20240112877
Abstract: X-rays can be used for material identification. X-ray beam purity, target adhesion the x-ray window, and a robust hermetic seal of the x-ray window are useful. To achieve these objectives, a target 17 can be mounted by an adhesion-layer 16 on the x-ray window. The adhesion-layer 16 can include chromium. A sealing-layer 13 can seal the x-ray window to a flange 19. Material of the sealing-layer 13 can be different from material of the adhesion-layer 16. There can be a gap 21 between the flange 19 and the target 17. There can be a conductive-layer 18 on the x-ray window 14 in the gap 21. A thickness Ts of the adhesion-layer 16 between the sealing-layer 13 and the x-ray window 14 can be different than a thickness Tt of the adhesion-layer 16 between the target 17 and the x-ray window 14.

  • Patent number: 10454850
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods and storage medium associated with buffering data in a switch are provided. In embodiments, the switch may include a plurality of queue buffers, a plurality of queues respectively associated with the plurality of queue buffers, a shared buffer, and a queue point controller coupled with the plurality of queue buffers and the shared buffer. In embodiments the queue point controller may be configured to determine an amount of available space in a selected queue buffer of the plurality of queue buffers. The queue point controller may be further configured to allocate at least a portion of the shared buffer to a selected queue that is associated with the selected queue buffer. In embodiments, this allocation may be based on the amount of available space determined in the selected queue buffer. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Patent number: 7245373
Abstract: A spectrometer system includes a thermal light source for illuminating a sample, where the thermal light source includes a filament that emits light when heated. The system additionally includes a spectrograph for measuring a light spectrum from the sample and an electrical circuit for supplying electrical current to the filament to heat the filament and for controlling a resistance of the filament. The electrical circuit includes a power supply that supplies current to the filament, first electrical components that sense a current through the filament, second electrical components that sense a voltage drop across the filament, third electrical components that compare a ratio of the sensed voltage drop and the sensed current with a predetermined value, and fourth electrical components that control the current through the filament or the voltage drop across the filament to cause the ratio to equal substantially the predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 5813950
Abstract: A grip assist apparatus designed to strengthen the weight lifter's grip and prevent a weight training injury by providing support to the wrist and hand while protecting the palm of the hand. The grip assist also allows the lifter free movement of his hands when he is not actually gripping the weight bar. The apparatus features a flexible gripping portion that covers the palm of the lifter. The gripping portion provides a non-slip surface that is tacky to the touch. A thicker, flexible top end of the gripping portion comes in direct contact with the weight bar and can be easily positioned between the bar and lifter's hand or partially positioned around the bar by the tips of the fingers of the same hand, depending on the lifter's preference.

  • Patent number: 5244270
Abstract: A carousel for installation in an under-the-counter cabinet has a post to be rotatably supported by the base of the cabinet and the undersurface of the counter rearwardly of a door. An assembly of radial arms is secured to the upper part of the post. Each two adjacent arms are for use in holding the upper end of an appropriately dimensioned open container against lateral movement with the bottoms of the containers seated on supporting structure. Covers for the containers are pivotally connected to the assembly and each is dimensioned and disposed to close the open end of a subjacent container. The bottom ends of the containers are held by the structure against movements other than tilting movements. When the upper end of one of them is tilted forwardly towards the doorway to the extent permitted by a releasable connection between the cover and the container. The cover and the container are then so separated that the container is now open to receive designated waste material.

  • Patent number: 4534591
Abstract: Controlled rocking action furniture such as a rocking chair is formed with curved side frame pieces for rocking engagement with the ground. Each curved side frame piece comprises a major smooth curved portion in turn composed of at least three component arcs of curvature of increasing radius. A seat frame joins the curved side frame pieces and defines an operating space near the base of the furniture. An upright stop mechanism is housed in the operating space and includes extendable and retractable legs which may be extended and retracted between a position substantially within the operating space and a position extending outside the seat frame in contact with the ground for stopping the chair in upright position. The side frame pieces are formed with first and second minor reverse curved portions at each end of the major curved portion providing forward and backward rocking stops.

  • Patent number: 4062413
Abstract: An improved feeder unit and method for use in a weighing system is disclosed wherein a bulk and a dribble feeder are positioned in close proximity to each other with both feeders being vibratory feeders. Positioned over the vibratory dribble feeder is a movable wiper blade which is utilized for wiping a portion of the bulk objects from the dribble feeder into the bulk feeder with the movable wiper blade allowing a controlled portion of the bulk objects to remain on the dribble feeder. The controlled movement of the wiper is utilized to allow a predetermined amount of the bulk objects being fed by the dribble feeder to pass under the wiper without jamming between the wiper and the dribble feeder thereby providing a much improved feeder unit.
