Abstract: A pie pan has a sidewall configured with a cut-out wall section that is held up and in place during packaging and/or baking of a pie, which can be folded down prior to serving the pie to improve access for removal of a first slice of pie. A method of making the pan from a foil sheet includes cutting out the wall section, and forming a releasable connection between the wall section and the remainder of the pan. Forming the releasable connection may include reducing a diameter of the remainder of the pan, nesting the wall section against an outside of the remainder of the pan, and curling a rim of the remainder of the pan over an overlapping portion of a rim of the wall section. This curling operation may create a rim of the wall section slideably engaged inside a rim of the remainder of the pan.
