  • Publication number: 20050016979
Abstract: A cooling system connected to provide coolant to a welding-type component automatically circulates coolant through the welding component upon activation of the welding component. A controller is configured to regulate the cooling system such that upon activation of the welding-type component coolant is caused to at least flow through the welding-type component and circulate after deactivation of the welding torch until a temperature of the coolant falls below a certain value or a specified time period has expired.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 7, 2003
    Publication date: January 27, 2005
Inventors: Alan Stein, David Werba, Jeffery Gadamus, LeRoy Lauer, Justin Paquette, Michael Sammons

  • Patent number: 6809293
Abstract: A method and apparatus for welding is disclosed. It includes a source of power and a controller. An output feedback circuit provides feedback to the controller. The controller includes a comparator that compares the fedback signal to a threshold and/or detects a short on the output. A standby/welding control is responsive to the comparator. Also, an arc end control may be provided that terminates the arc in response to detecting an increase in arc length.

  • Patent number: 6399913
Abstract: An insulative grip for a TIG torch is held in a person's fingers like a pen or pencil. The grip has an external contour that has multiple gripping areas. The size and shape of the gripping areas conform to the person's thumb and first two fingers when he holds the grip. The gripping areas reduce the tendency for the torch to move in the person's hand. The gripping areas also provide an indication of the orientation in space of the torch electrode when the person holds the torch. The torch may be either water-cooled or air-cooled.

  • Patent number: 6193548
Abstract: A power supply connector includes a cable receptacle, a front bulkhead insulator and a rear bulkhead insulator. The bulkhead insulators are mounted on the cable receptacle and the power supply chassis. At least one O ring is disposed between the front and rear bulkhead insulators, to seal out water. The front bulkhead insulator includes a stepped portion that mates with a stepped portion on the rear bulkhead insulator. The front bulkhead insulator provides an elongated path from the chassis to the cable receptacle. Also, an O ring is disposed between the cable receptacle and the front bulkhead insulator, to seal out water.
