  • Publication number: 20030044415
Abstract: A complex including an HLA class I molecule and attaching means for selectively attaching the HLA class I molecule to a target is disclosed, and a method is provided for producing or enhancing an immunological response against a target cell, by attaching said complex to the target cell. Where the target cell is diseased, foreign, or malignant cell, this method may be used to promote lysis of the target cell by T cells in the immune system. Where the target cell is an antigen presenting cell, this method may be used to promote proliferation of specific T cell clones. Uses include prevention and treatment of diseases including cancer, leukaemia, infectious diseases, viral infections, such as HIV, bacterial infections, such as tuberculosis, and parasitic infections such as malaria.

  • Patent number: 6022032
Abstract: The invention is a firewood transport and storage device. The device comprises a portable wood rack having a tubular U-shaped base frame with a two-wheeled chassis assembly at one end and support stand at the opposite end. A pair of fold down handles is connected to the frame opposite the wheeled chassis assembly for moving the wood rack as one would a wheelbarrow. The device can be disassembled into component sections for storage or shipping.

  • Patent number: 5929401
Abstract: A keypad is disclosed having a rigid plate with openings. A flexible sheet of the keypad has keys which protrude through the openings of the rigid plate. The keypad further includes a rigid insertion plate and a flexible contact sheet with dome-shaped contacts configured to contact the keys. The rigid plate and the rigid insertion plate have a curved shape, where the flexible sheet and the flexible contact sheet are located between the rigid plate and the rigid insertion plate to conform to the curved shape. The curved shape is concave along a longitudinal axis of the keypad and convex along the keypad transversal axis. Further, the top surfaces of the keys protruding from the openings are contoured to conform to the curved shape.

  • Patent number: 5524134
Abstract: A security module for use in a cellular telephone provides for low power consumption. The security module includes a vocoder processor for manipulating signals from the telephone's microphone and to the telephone's ear piece; an encryption engine; a modem processor for controlling transmitted and received data from the cellular telephone; and a security system controller. The processors consume virtually no power when the phone is in the standby mode and very little power to produce encrypted communication when the cellular phone is operational.

  • Patent number: 4944008
Abstract: A data locking system which modifies data in accordance with a renewable key variable derived from the exclusive ORing of a pseudorandom combination number from an external source means with an altered key variable.

  • Patent number: 3952572
Abstract: A method and apparatus for bending beams by which a beam is subjected to pure moment bending in a critically oriented plane to avoid twist and to maintain single plane bending in a beam of arbitrary cross section. As disclosed, a pair of bending heads laterally engage a beam at longitudinally spaced points. Force actuator means connected directly between the heads is energized to rotate one of the heads relative to the other to produce a bending moment in a work area in the beam between the heads. The actuator means is arranged to produce a force couple on the heads which avoids transverse loading of the beam and resultant twist and which is adapted to selectively orient the plane of the applied couple relative to the desired bending plane to maintain single plane bending in beams of nonsymmetric cross section.
