  • Patent number: 6910562
Abstract: A torsional-vibration damper includes at least one primary element and a secondary element that can be coupled to each other by a spring device, are limited in movement in relation to each other about a rotational axis, and can be brought into frictional contact with each other by a friction device. The friction device has at least two friction-surface-carrying elements rubbing against each other to which a contact-pressure force, generated by a force-generating device, can be applied to produce a frictional engagement between the two elements. The force-generating device has a mechanical actuating mechanism for generating an actuating force and a hydraulic actuating mechanism for generating a counterforce, wherein the contact-pressure force is a vector sum of the actuating force and the counterforce.

  • Publication number: 20050087420
Abstract: A powertrain with a torsional vibration damper having a disk and a torsional vibration damper housing which is coupled to the disk elastically so that it can be deflected from rotation about a rotational axis and which at least partially surrounds the disk. A clutch device with a clutch housing is provided that can rotate about the rotational axis. To increase the inertia of masses at the output of the torsional vibration damper the torsional vibration damper housing is connected without rotational play to the clutch housing.

  • Publication number: 20040256075
Abstract: A feeder insert is provided for a mold utilized for pouring metal. The insert includes a feeder body having a feed volume, in the form of an inner space, delimited by side walls and a top portion. A feed opening is provided in the base region for communicating with a hollow mold space. A domed feeder cap is displaceably disposed on a feeder body, surrounds the side walls of the feeder body to form an insulating gap, and is fixed in position relative to the feeder body prior to molding of the insert. At least one spacer of flexible material is disposed between the top portions of the feeder body and feeder cap such that during molding of the insert, and placement of the feeder body on the mold surface, due to molding pressure that occurs the feeder cap is displaceable relative to the feeder body while leaving an insulating gap between the top portions of the feeder body and feeder cap.

  • Patent number: 6590903
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the transmission of an asynchronous data stream, containing useful data, via a synchronous data bus which is arranged to transmit data frames in time multiplex. The invention is characterized in that the asynchronous data stream is converted into a synchronous, continuous data stream by means of a converter circuit, that within the data frames a selectable number of storage locations is provided for the useful data of the asynchronous data stream, that a variable number of useful data can be assigned to the individual data frames by the converter circuit and in dependence on the speed of the asynchronous data stream, and that protocol data is assigned to the individual data frames by means of the converter circuit, each time in a predetermined position within the data frames, which protocol data contains information as regards the number of useful data present in the relevant data frame.

  • Patent number: 6354360
Abstract: A device for directional solidification of a fused metal, for example a CoCrAlY alloy, which has been poured into a molding shell, by moving the molding shell out of a heating chamber and by immersing the molding shell in a liquid-metal bath serving as a cooling melt with a lower melting-point than the fused metal in the molding shell, for example tin. The liquid-metal bath is enclosed by several current carrying toroidal coils arranged coaxially relative to one another. For the purpose of orienting the stream filament of the agitated fused metal one or more guide plates are arranged in the space between the lateral circumferential surface of the molding shell and the inner wall of the shell containing the liquid-metal bath which is located opposite the molding shell.

  • Patent number: 6240934
Abstract: The treatment, for example the cleaning of holes or recesses in workpieces, is problematic when the holes or recesses have an opening width of below 0.5 mm, and especially when the latter do not penetrate the workpiece (blind bores). In known methods, gas bubbles adhering to the side-walls of holes of this type cannot be removed or liquids situated within the holes cannot be effectively exchanged. With the method according to the invention an effective exchange of the liquid contained in the holes and situated outwith the holes is made possible. For this purpose the liquid treatment means is sprayed as a jet into the holes, said jet having a diameter which is smaller than that of the holes. Furthermore, a device is described for carrying out this method which is characterised by a nozzle with one or several nozzle discharge openings with a diameter below 0.

  • Patent number: 6208618
Abstract: A method and apparatus for replacing lost PSTN data in a packet network and for generating variable power white noise are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method for replacing data includes the steps of receiving data packets, detecting lost data packets, and producing in response a lost data output indicating when replacement data needs to be provided. The method preferably generates the replacement data by re-using data stored in an extended playback buffer (with the re-used replacement data starting with the oldest output data byte stored in the extended playback buffer), and placing the re-used replacement data on an external network. Another aspect of the invention is a variable power white noise generator for providing replacement data. The variable power white noise generator may use, for example, a multi-bit register that stores a magnitude, and a pseudo-random sign bit generator to change the positive and negative sense of the magnitude.
