  • Publication number: 20040243689
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for accessing information and/or services of a distributed automation system comprising a plurality of automation devices, by means of one of the automation devices. According to said method, information concerning an automation device to be serviced constitutes a selection criterion, which can be used to automatically search for information and/or services for servicing the automation device to be served.

  • Publication number: 20040243972
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and a system for wiring automation functions in an installation, whereby a client programme transmits a file in a markup language to an installation server computer over a network. The file describes the wiring of automation functions in a markup language. Said file is interpreted by a programme of the installation server computer, said programme subsequently generating instructions for the components and which are transmitted over the network. Said instructions are used to implement the wiring specified by the file in the components. Furthermore, it is possible to modify the file on the client computer to modify the wiring.

  • Publication number: 20040243695
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining a network topology of a distributed automation system comprising a plurality of automation devices that are connected to the system. The method comprises the following steps: a) a first automation device directs a request into the automation system, b) each automation device that has been reached by the request transmits a response containing information about the position of the automation device, c) the first automation device generates a representation of the network topology of the distributed automation system from all the responses.

  • Publication number: 20040205197
Abstract: The invention relates to an automation system and a method for visualizing a system with a client (1) for displaying a web page consisting of data fields for displaying parameter values, comprising a processing unit (2) for storing actual parameter values. The modified parameter values can be interrogated by a client (1) by cyclical polling. Only the modified parameter values are transmitted to the client in an associated script and interpreted by the browser (3).

  • Publication number: 20040066406
Abstract: Several tools are included in an object processing system that also includes a common object model containing a data structure and an administrative program for the data structure. The tools have read access and optionally also write access to partial areas of the data structure via the administrative program. The partial areas can be different from one another and can contain mutually corresponding information. The administrative program optionally updates the other partial areas by compulsion, during write access approaches by a tool.

  • Publication number: 20040044420
Abstract: Information available in an automation installation can be accessed via the automation installation by a computer that is coupled to the automation installation. The computer can access, via an interface, a search machine stored in the automation installation. The search machine selects the information available in the automation installation according to at least one criterion defined by an alphanumeric character string.

  • Publication number: 20040027875
Abstract: Dynamic access is provided to automation resources, where, in a distributed automation system having a plurality of automation components, a first automation component searching for an automation resource sends a request to the automation system and, for this request, receives a response regarding availability of suitable automation resources from all automation components which it has been possible to reach, and then selects that automation component which has the suitable automation resource and uses the automation resource.

  • Publication number: 20040031036
Abstract: A computer requests information that is available in an automation system, coupled to the computer, concerning the system and the information is transmitted to the computer, or prepared for the latter by the automation system. In addition to the requested information, the automation system transmits data to the computer or prepares data for the latter, which provides a definition of the requested information.
