  • Patent number: 7260022
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the determination of a stationary and/or moving object, such as a vehicle, acoustic signals emitted by the object and/or reflected by another object are recorded and used to evaluate or identify an object. The object is detected, evaluated and identified acoustically with the aid of noises from it and/or extraneous noises, with respect to its own movement profile in relation to one or more coordinate axes (x, y axes), in the manner of a self-localization based on sound waves.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 28, 2002
Date of Patent: August 21, 2007
    Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AG
Inventors: Michael Schliep, Szabolcs Toergyekes, Walter Zipp
  • Patent number: 7047111
Abstract: In order to improve a noise emission or noise emission which is caused by a vehicle, according to the invention the instantaneous load (L) of the vehicle (F) is determined with a method for controlling and/or regulating a load (L) of a vehicle (F) by means of a pickup unit (6, 6A to 6C) with reference to at least one operating variable (B) of the vehicle (F), the operating variable (B) being controlled and/or regulated by means of a control unit or regulator unit (2) as a function of a noise level (G(G), G(F), G(U)) resulting from the instantaneous load (L) of the vehicle (F).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 23, 2001
Date of Patent: May 16, 2006
    Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AG
Inventors: Michael Schliep, Szabolcs Toergyekes, Walter Zipp
  • Publication number: 20050100172
Abstract: For a reliable identification of noise sources generating noise or sound signals, according to the invention, in a method for determining a noise signal (S) of a noise source (10), the noise signal (S) is detected and analyzed on the basis of signal properties, the noise signal (S) being compared with noise patterns (M) and being assigned to a noise source type (T) on the basis of the comparison.

  • Publication number: 20040243358
Abstract: In order to model an environment as naturally and realistically as possible, a method and an apparatus according to the invention allow the environment to be determined as perceived by a person, that is to say largely covering all of the sensory organs. In this case, the apparatus is in the form of a multisensor integrated measurement system which is used for simultaneous recording, in a manner typical of a person, of measurement signals, such as acoustic and optical signals, light radiation signals, heat signals and smell signals, and to reproduce them authentically.

  • Publication number: 20040081322
Abstract: For locating, identifying and classifying noise sources inside and outside spaces, the invention provides a method for processing noise signals of a noise source, in which a plurality of noise signals (SQ1 to SQ4) are detected in a location-related manner and examined by means of a sound analysis on the basis of signal features in such a way that parameters underlying the noise source (G1 to G4) are determined.

  • Publication number: 20040039517
Abstract: The invention relates to an integrated traffic surveillance system having devices for measuring environmental and weather data, having traffic sensors, and a traffic surveillance control centre for storing and processing the detected data, and communication devices for carrying out the data exchange with the measuring devices and with the data users. The invention also relates to a driver assistance system which operates autonomously or is part of the integrated traffic surveillance system. It is proposed according to the invention that in order to reduce the environmental pollution the integrated traffic surveillance system and/or the driver assistance system take actions to control a traffic system. The control actions comprise the output of information, warnings and/or recommendations to road-users, interventions in the infrastructure and/or interventions in the vehicle.
