  • Publication number: 20250023636
Abstract: According to examples, a test instrument may determine equalization setting values for electrical signals communicated with optical modules. Particularly, the test instrument may automatically determine the equalization setting values that may result in an optimal signal quality metric of electrical signals communicated with an optical module. The test instrument may generate test signals having a plurality of equalization setting value permutations applied to the test signals and may determine respective signal quality metrics of the test signals returned from the optical module. In other examples, the optical module may generate the test signals and the optical module or the test instrument may determine the respective signal quality metrics of the test signals. In either of these examples, the values of the equalization settings may be set to be applied on electrical signals communicated with the optical module to improve a quality of the electrical signal communications with the optical module.

  • Patent number: 11695475
Abstract: A test instrument for providing an optics troubleshooting technique of an optical transceiver is disclosed. The test instrument may comprise a processor and a memory, which when executed by the processor, performs the optics troubleshooting technique. The optics troubleshooting technique may include identifying a test signal from the optical transceiver. The optics troubleshooting technique may include determining signal power associated with the signal. The optics troubleshooting technique may further include applying one or more expert mode settings. In some examples, the one or more expert mode settings may be applied in a predefined order until an acceptable BER result is achieved over a predefined test period. In this way, test instrument may determine which of the one or more expert mode settings is responsible for the acceptable BER result.

  • Publication number: 20220345392
Abstract: A network test device tests key performance indicators for a link aggregation group (LAG). Ports for the LAG are determined. Test streams including test frames are generated and transmitted from the ports to test the LAG. The test frames include a unique stream identifier for a corresponding test stream. The test frames may be looped back. Key performance indicators for the LAG are determined based on the received test frames and the unique stream identifier in each test frame.
