Patent number: 11770426Abstract: A software-defined media platform having one or more media processing units that may be dynamically instantiated, interconnected and configured according to changes in demand, resource availability, and other parameters affecting system performance relative to demand. In one example media processing method, a source media stream may be received via multicast or unicast. The source media stream may be processed into one or more levels of work product segments having different media characteristics by a plurality of transcoding processing units, as needed. One or more levels of work product segments, or the source media stream, may be packaged (e.g., including resegmenting) into final work product segments having select media characteristics, which may be uploaded to a cloud storage unit for delivery to end users.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2021Date of Patent: September 26, 2023Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Paul Tweedale, Chin-Cheng Wu, Michael Shearer, Tung Ng

Publication number: 20130255591Abstract: A portable device for launching a plurality of retriever dummies is described. The device is light-weight, portable, can be remotely triggered, and requires only a single person to operate. The device has a plurality of legs secured to a main beam and at least one strut extending from the main beam. The legs are preferably articulated and can function as struts. Elastomeric bands extend from a basket to the strut, through a pulley, and back to an anchor. The bands are stretched so that the basket can be fastened to a release mechanism. A retriever object can be placed in the basket. An operator can distance himself from the device and, using a remote control, disengage the fastener from the release mechanism so that the object is launched. The release mechanism is capable of retaining an elastomeric band under high tension while permitting its release using a low voltage electric motor.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 2, 2013Publication date: October 3, 2013Applicant: Wilson Retrievers, Inc.Inventors: John Michael Shearer, Douglas A. Patent number: 6689353Abstract: A stable pharmaceutical preparation comprising Human interleukin-2 or a variant thereof and a stabilizing amount of histidine. A preferred formulation includes glycine and sucrose and a variant of IL-2 having a single mutation, N88R. The preferred formulation is in lyophilized form which, on reconstitution with an aqueous diluent, results in a solution having a pH ranging from about 5.0 to 6.5.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2000Date of Patent: February 10, 2004Assignee: Bayer Pharmaceuticals CorporationInventors: Wei Wang, Rajiv Nayar, Michael A. Use of intermediate length alcohols as virucidal agents in solutions of biologically active proteins
Patent number: 5071650Abstract: Soluble, intermediate length alcohols (C.sub.4 -C.sub.10) in aqueous solutions at low pH (4.0-7.0) can be used as virucidal agents for therapeutic biologically active protein preparations. Treatment with the alcohols is especially useful for proteins having activity not adversely affected by low pH.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1990Date of Patent: December 10, 1991Assignee: Miles Inc.Inventors: George B. Dove, Milton B. Dobkin, Michael A. Shearer -
Patent number: 4656254Abstract: There is disclosed an improved method for separating one of alpha-1-proteinase inhibitor (also known as alpha-1 antitrypsin) and antithrombin-III from an aqueous solution of plasma proteins containing the same, such as from Cohn Fraction IV-1, Cohn Fraction IV, reworks of Cohn Fraction IV and IV-1, Cohn Effluent II & III and Cohn Effluent I. The method includes the steps of first holding an aqueous solution of plasma proteins containing one of alpha-1-proteinase inhibitor and antithrombin-III in a relatively large volume of buffer solution as solvent and at a pH adjusted to be relatively basic when compared to conditions heretofore known, and at a temperature in the range of from 2.degree.-50.degree. C. for a period of about 0.2-24 hours. Following the above treatment, alpha-1-proteinase inhibitor and antithrombin-III are obtained by applying conventional techniques to the resulting solution. Accordingly, the solution is then mixed with a polyalkylene glycol, e.g.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1985Date of Patent: April 7, 1987Assignee: Miles Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Michael A.
