  • Patent number: 6559381
Abstract: A base for an electrical outlet. The electrical outlet includes a mounting screw aperture disposed along a longitudinal axis for receiving a mounting screw having a mounting screw head to mount the electrical outlet to a box. The mounting screw head has a mounting screw head diameter. The electrical outlet also has at least one socket face for receiving an electrical plug. The base includes a substantially planar backing member, the backing member including at least one aperture for receiving the at least one socket face. The base also includes a keyhole slot disposed in the backing member and having first and second keyhole slot apertures. The first keyhole slot aperture is larger than the mounting screw head diameter. The second keyhole slot aperture is smaller than the mounting screw head diameter and is disposed in the backing member at a location on the longitudinal axis and aligned with the mounting screw aperture when the base is mounted to the electrical outlet using the mounting screw.

  • Patent number: 6160219
Abstract: A cover plate for covering an electrical outlet. The electrical outlet includes a receptacle having at least one socket and at least one securing aperture for receiving a securing device, wherein each of the at least one socket includes a face and a plurality of blade apertures for receiving plug blades. The cover plate includes a front surface for facing outwardly from the electrical outlet and externally relative to the cover plate and a back surface facing toward the electrical outlet. A plurality of blade apertures extend through the cover plate through the front and back surfaces. Optionally, at least one securing aperture extends through the cover plate. The front surface of the cover plate contains, or includes, a single line extending substantially in a rectangle around the blade apertures and the at least one securing aperture, the front surface otherwise being continuous, having uniform topography, and being free of any other apertures.

  • Patent number: 5763831
Abstract: A method and apparatus for converting a universal cover plate for an electrical outlet to any desired specific cover plate. The apparatus includes a base having removable tabs and hinges. To create the desired cover plate, the appropriate tabs are removed to leave apertures that accommodate the desired standard electrical outlet such as a light switch or socket. An optional cover may have removable hinges that allow the cover to open along more than one axis. To make a base that fits with a lid hinged on its longer side, hinges on the shorter side are removed, by prying, sawing, or cutting. Alternatively, to make a base that fits a lid hinged on the shorter side of the base, hinges on the longer side are removed. If a base with no cover is desired, all the hinges may be removed.

  • Patent number: 5603473
Abstract: A cover plate is provided for use with a pesticide distributing system having a plurality of tubes disposed within the structures of a building. This cover plate comprises a front surface, a back surface, and a plurality of apertures extending through the back surface. The back surface includes chamfers on the apertures or the like for connecting the tubing to respective ones of the apertures. The apertures provide fluid communication of the pesticide from the front surface to the tubing. The cover plate may include a mounting device such as hinges disposed at the edge of the cover plate for mounting the cover plate to a building surface, e.g., to the exterior wall of a residence or other building. An enclosure also may be provided for selectively enclosing the front surface.
