  • Patent number: 9838448
Abstract: A method of reducing interference between wireless networks operating on channels with different bandwidths is proposed. One wireless network operates on a narrow band channel while the other network operates on a wide band channel that overlaps the narrow band channel. The method involves communicating information regarding the wide band channel to the devices of the network operating on the narrow band channel. A device in the network operating on the wide band channel constructs a special frame that carries its network ID as well as information regarding the wide band channel that it is operating on, namely the center frequency and the channel bandwidth. The device then broadcasts this frame on the narrow band channel. In addition, this frame is protected from possible collision by preceding the transmission of the frame by protection frames on both the channels.

  • Publication number: 20050238210
Abstract: In a method and apparatus, an identity of a person is verified by a handheld device. The handheld device has imaging capabilities and images a person to be identified. The image information is processed in the handheld device, including generating a two dimensional facial template. The template is compared to templates in a database and the results provide a link to a photographic database. The resulting image is displayed on the handheld device.

  • Publication number: 20050238208
Abstract: A method and apparatus for authenticating an identification of a person includes a portable computing device having a pair of imaging devices directed to a common location so as to generate a stereographic image of a subject. The portable computing device includes software for processing the image data to generate two dimensional and three dimensional biometric data of a person to be identified. The device is used to generate the biometric data for an identified person and then may be used to authenticate the identity of the person through comparison of newly acquired biometric data from the person to be identified to the previously acquired biometric data of the identified person.

  • Publication number: 20050220326
Abstract: A method and apparatus for authenticating an identification of a person provides that biometric information is obtained from the person and a portion thereof is extracted and stored on a data carrier adapted for being carried by the person. A remaining portion of the biometric information is stored on an identification system. For authentication, the person presents the data carrier and new biometric information is obtained from the person. A comparison is made between the new biometric information from the person, the portion of the biometric information stored on the data carrier and the remaining portion of the biometric information stored in the identification system.
