    Abstract: A quick and inexpensive test for the detection of fetal pulmonary maturity comprising the steps of acidifying a given volume of amniotic fluid, adding a given volume of an ether, agitating and observing the number of bubbles existing in the ether layer. The number of bubbles existing in the ether layer after a certain observational period may be correlated with the existence of pulmonary immaturity in a fetus.
