  • Publication number: 20230052699
Abstract: Network Slice Selection Assistance information (NSSA1) may be signaled between U ser Equipment (UE) and a network. NSSA1 sent from the network to the UE may include, for example. Operating Frequency Band (OFB) for each Single NSSAI(S-NSSA1) in the NSSAI, as well as a Radio Access Technology (RAT) Frequency Selection Priority (RFSP) index, which the network configures as a part of UE access and mobility; subscription, during a UE registration procedure. RAT restrictions may be enhanced to indicate to the UE that certain slices are not accessible via certain RATs. A UE may be provided by the network with an alternative NSSAI and corresponding OFBs for each S-NSSAI thereby indicating to the UE that these S-NSSAI would have been allowed had they been requested. A UE may be able to choose an alternative Allowed NSSAI and send a registration update request to the network.

  • Publication number: 20230034349
Abstract: Methods devised for enabling external AF/AS to provide information to SGC regarding Edge Data Network Configurations. Further, methods for UE provisioning for Edge service enablement are provided. Mechanisms are disclosed for: enabling UEs, not hosting an EEC, to request EDN information provisioning in order to enable Application Clients, which are not Edge-aware, to utilize Edge services; enabling an EEC, hosted by a UE, to obtain Edge Configuration information by using URSP rules for establishing IP connectivity with a Configuration Server; and enabling an EEC, hosted by a UE, to obtain Edge Data Network configuration information during registration.

  • Publication number: 20230037031
Abstract: System and methods that improve the use of network functions on edge data networks are disclosed. A mechanism that supports edge-assisted UE context and trigger collection is described herein, where a UE can actively send its context information and/or any trigger (e.g. a request for a network function/service to be deployed in edge data networks, etc.) to an edge enabler server, which processes the received context and triggers from its UEs. The edge enabler server may also forward UE context and triggers to 5G core network (5GC) upon receiving a solicitation request from the 5GC, or if the 5GC has already made a subscription for getting notification on UE context and triggers. A network repository function is provided as a new network function collect, store, and manage edge data network information.

  • Publication number: 20230026671
Abstract: An edge application handover client in a user equipment may use application client information, such as type service, provider, location, context, and sendee requirements, to assist seamless edge application handovers of application clients between edge application servers. For example, a handover client may use context information to determine an anticipated route of the user equipment, and thereby determine a next, edge application server for a handoff. The handover client may weigh the needs of multiple application clients m selecting servers for handovers. The handover client may issue requests to servers requesting assistance in handover operations, and may issue subscription requests to servers, and further may determine the success of handovers by monitoring application state synchronization or migration between edge application handover servers.

  • Publication number: 20230007624
Abstract: A radio apparatus communicating with a first and a second network, and having a first connection to the first network, may receive a page from the second network and determine to form a second connection with the second network, and notify the first network of the selection. The first network may then notify the apparatus to release or suspend the first connection. The apparatus may send release and/or suspension preferences to the first network, such as a preference to be treated in an idle or inactive mode, paging preferences, and a preferred identifier of the apparatus. The apparatus may then form the second connection, and monitor for paging from the first network, e.g., during a given paging occasion and paging frame.

  • Publication number: 20220418020
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described herein for multi-subscriber identification module (SIM) connected mode operation. In one embodiment, a wireless communications device may receive, from an access stratum interface, a request access to the receiver chain during a receiving opportunity. The wireless communications device may determine that the receiver chain is available during the receiving opportunity. The wireless communications device may send a response indicating access is granted to cause the access stratum interface to receive a downlink transmission during the receiving opportunity. The wireless communications device may receive, from the access stratum interface, a second request for a transmitter chain during a transmitting opportunity. The wireless communications device may determine that the transmitter chain is available during the transmitting opportunity.

  • Publication number: 20220321678
Abstract: A caching entity may store a cached copy of a service layer resource. An original hosting entity may maintain a registry of the corresponding cached resources. Optionally, the original hosting entity may set cache parameters to govern the lifetime of the cache on a caching entity. The caching entity may keep storing the cached copy of the resource and the original hosting entity may obtain statistics about the cached resource. By knowing the statistics, e.g. how many times a resource is retrieved on each caching entity, the original hosting entity may better manage the resource.

  • Publication number: 20220240213
Abstract: An electronic device including a receiver configured to receive a first Subscriber Identity Module (SIM); a receiver configured to receive a second SIM; and circuitry configured to receive data from the first SIM; and send a request, to a first public land mobile network (PLMN), to register the electronic device to the first PLMN, wherein the request indicates that the electronic device is a multi-SIM device and the request includes multi-SIM assistance information, and wherein the multi-SIM assistance information informs the first PLMN of the electronic device's preference for multi-SIM operations.

  • Publication number: 20220116770
Abstract: A first apparatus includes a processor, a memory, and communication circuitry. The first apparatus is connected to a communications network via its communication circuitry. The first apparatus further includes computer-executable instructions stored in the memory of the first apparatus which, when executed by the processor of the first apparatus, cause the first apparatus to: receive voice content or other biometric content of a user; prepare a message including the voice or other biometric content; send the message to the communications network or a second apparatus through a control plane of the communications network in order to authenticate and authorize the first apparatus and the user; receive a response message from the communications network or the second apparatus, wherein the response message includes authentication and authorization results for the first apparatus and identification information that identifies the user.

  • Publication number: 20210259043
Abstract: Current wireless networks do not allow machine type communication (MTC) devices to have long discontinuous reception (DRX) cycles or sleep lengths. A long DRX cycle may allow MTC systems and devices to operate with much longer DRX/Sleep cycles/periods. This may facilitate the MTC operations for infrequent system access or infrequent system reaching (e.g. paged once in a week) with no or low mobility and may allow MTC devices to sleep for a long time with low power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20070118791
Abstract: The sliding window approach to pipeline maximum a posteriori (MAP) decoder architecture is modified to decrease processing time. Once the forward metrics have been calculated for he first sliding window of the decoder, the reverse metrics for each window are calculated while the forward metrics for the next window are calculated. As each new forward metric is calculated and stored into memory, the forward metric from the previous window is read from memory for use with reverse metric being calculated in calculating extrinsic value. Each forward metric for use in calculating an extrinsic value is written to the same memory location. The calculations can be reversed, reverse metrics being calculated first, followed by reverse metric calculations. Although this architecture as developed for a turbo decoder, all convolution codes can use the MAP algorithm of the present invention.
