Publication number: 20240066169Abstract: A biological indicator reader is provided for reading a plurality of biological indicators to determine the effectiveness of at least a sterilization process. Each biological indicator is configured to exhibit fluorescence when the sterilization process has failed. Each reader comprises a housing having a plurality of biological indicator holders, a heater coupled to the housing and configured to heat the plurality of biological indicator holders to a preselected temperature to incubate the biological indicators, a UV light emitter configured to emit UV light through a first aperture on the side of each holder and an optical detector positioned under a second aperture on the bottom of the biological indicator holder, the optical detector configured to detect fluorescence intensity indicating the effectiveness of the sterilization process. A method of using the biological indicator reader is provided. A biological indicator system is also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 22, 2021Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Keith Hamberg, John C. Houge, Greg Ingersoll, Michael Scheidnes, Jeanette Sterner, Thomas Strele

Patent number: 9194746Abstract: A system that measures deviation of printed color at selected locations on a moving substrate from a target color. The system comprises using a printed test image of target color, a calibrated spectrophotometer to provide spectral response values of the target color on the test image, a photonic device that provides tri-stimulus values from inline printed images and a computing device. The computing device compares the tri-stimulus values to spectral response values for the test image to calculate a spectral transformation matrix at each location selected to remove variations in optical and mechanical parameters. The spectral transformation matrix is applied to future mapped sets of tri-stimulus values of printed colors captured by the photonic device from selected locations to determine in real-time the deviation of color and thereby control color quality.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2014Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: Videk, Inc.Inventors: James Richard Reda, Brandon Michael Sterner, Christine Panarites Thomas, Thomas Frederik Slechta

Patent number: 7794527Abstract: A variable position gas trap apparatus and method to separate gases entrained in drilling fluid in a tank. The apparatus includes a gas trap attached to a carriage and a frame attached to the tank. A lever moveable by the float rod, activates the control valve to raise or lower the carriage having the gas trap container attached thereto. A feedback control loop is responsive to changes in the level of the drilling fluid in the tank. A mechanism is provided to mechanically and automatically move the carriage with respect to the frame in response to the feedback control loop.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2007Date of Patent: September 14, 2010Assignee: Fluid Inclusion Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Steven Michael Sterner
