  • Publication number: 20210268247
Abstract: Tumor-Treating Fields elicit a conditional vulnerability to PARP inhibitors (e.g., Olaparib) in certain cancer cells such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines. This conditional vulnerability is exploited in a method of killing cancer cells that comprises delivering a PARP inhibitor to the cancer cells and applying an alternating 80-300 kHz electric field to the cancer cells. At least a portion of the applying step is performed simultaneously with at least a portion of the delivering step. In some embodiments, an additional step of treating the cancer cells with a radiation therapy is added to the method. In some embodiments, the frequency of the alternating electric field is between 100 and 200 kHz.

  • Patent number: 10329104
Abstract: Vehicle restraints for use at loading docks are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a vehicle restraint can include a frame mountable relative to a loading dock face, a restraining structure configured to engage, for example, a Rear Impact Guard (RIG) of a shipping vehicle, and a linkage operably coupling the restraining structure to the frame. The linkage can include a collapsible strut operably coupled between the frame and the restraining structure. In operation, the linkage can be raised to engage the restraining structure with the RIG and prevent the vehicle from moving away from the dock face. Additionally, the restraining structure can be disengaged from the RIG by collapsing the strut, even if the RIG is imparting a significant load on the restraining structure that might otherwise bind the restraining structure in the engaged position.

  • Patent number: 9246439
Abstract: A transimpedance amplifier includes a current regulator having a first current mirror of a first conduction type and a first current mirror of a second conduction type. The first current mirror stage of a first conduction type receives a reference current. The first current mirror stage of a second conduction type is connected to the first current mirror stage of the first conduction type, and receives an output current from the first current mirror stage of the first conduction type, and to generate a current to be used as a current source by a transimpedance amplifier. Each of the current mirror stages includes a first transistor and a second transistor of the same conduction type having their gate terminals connected wherein the first transistor receives an input current and the second transistor provides an output current that is a factor of the received input current.

  • Patent number: 8838279
Abstract: Technology generally directed to operation of loading dock equipment such as vehicle restraints, dock levelers, overhead doors/openers, barrier gates, lights, and linked or unlinked control systems is disclosed herein. The disclosed technology may be employed to power electrical loading dock systems from batteries and/or alternative power sources, including “green” power sources. For example, the technology may be employed at new, temporary, and/or mobile facilities having any number of loading docks where reliable commercial power may not be readily available. Further, the technology may also be employed at warehouses in remote and/or developing areas where electrical infrastructure is not available and/or reasonably priced. The technology may be embodied as methods, apparatuses, manufactures (e.g., computer- and/or processor-readable storage and/or other mediums), and/or the like.

  • Patent number: 8407842
Abstract: Dock levelers, such as mechanical dock levelers, are described herein. In one embodiment, a mechanical dock leveler includes a ramp having a lip pivotally attached to a forward edge. A ramp lifting system is configured to assist upward rotation of the ramp as it is manually raised. In this embodiment, a lip lifting system is operably coupled to the ramp lifting system so that the ramp is initially “downward biased” prior to being raised, and then becomes at least partially supported in a raised position by the lip lifting mechanism, once the lip lifting mechanism is engaged.

  • Patent number: 8163709
Abstract: The splicing variant D of the TAK1 gene is activated by short double-stranded RNAs in a sequence specific manner. Activation of TAK1-D leads to the downstream activation of the p38 MAPK and of SAPK/JNK but not the NF?B pathway. The current invention therefore provides a method of inducing apoptosis and/or cell cycle arrest in a cancer cell comprising contacting said cell with an agonist of Tak1-D function. The invention further provides a method of modulating inflammation and the treatment of cancer by the administration of an agonist of Tak1-D function or expression. In yet another aspect, the invention provides a method of inducing p38 MAPK and SAPK/JNK signaling in a cell comprising contacting said cell with an agonist of Tak1-D function or expression.
