Publication number: 20240131831Abstract: A method of applying a paint film to a substrate may include wetting a surface of the substrate or an adhesive layer of a paint film to form a fluid layer thereon. The paint film may further comprise a polymer film layer. The method may further include applying the paint film to the substrate such that the fluid layer is positioned between the adhesive layer and the surface. The applied paint film may be heated with infrared heat to facilitate the removal of the fluid layer and adhere the adhesive layer to the surface. Systems and devices for applying a paint film to a substrate are also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 10, 2022Publication date: April 25, 2024Applicant: PPG Advanced Surface Technologies, LLCInventors: Andrew C. Publication number: 20230359687Abstract: Systems and methods for integrating mobile image capture with an internet browser application on a mobile device are provided, wherein a user viewing a web page via the internet browser application can initiate a mobile image capture process on the mobile device through the web page, capture images with a mobile image capture user interface, and then provide secure access to the captured images for the web page in order to utilize the content of the captured images. The mobile image capture process is accessible through any internet browser application via the mobile device and allows any service running on a web page to benefit from the ability to capture an image on the mobile device and obtain the content of the image through mobile image processing. The browser-based mobile image capture allows mobile devices which do not run certain third party applications to utilize mobile image capture and processing.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2023Publication date: November 9, 2023Inventors: Michael Strange, Robert J. Nies, Kirk Beitz

Patent number: 11781579Abstract: A blind bolt extends through a hole which extends through a first and second member. An anchor is disposed on the distal end of a blind bolt shaft, and the anchor has expanded and contracted configurations. An anchor is disposed on the distal end on a shaft and is positioned beyond the distal end of the hole engaging a surface of the second member thereby holding the shaft in the hole. A shear sleeve is disposed on the blind bolt proximate to the distal end of the shaft and has a length sufficient to extend across the second member, across the interface between the first and second members and partially across the first member. A nut is threaded on the threads of the shaft, and a collapsible cylinder is disposed on the blind bolt shaft between the sheer sleeve and nut.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2019Date of Patent: October 10, 2023Assignee: Allfasteners USA, LLCInventors: Michael Strange, Bruce A. Publication number: 20230298107Abstract: Systems and methods for using a mobile device to submit an application for an insurance policy using images of documents captured by the mobile device are provided herein. The information is then used by an insurance company to generate a quote which is then displayed to the user on the mobile device. A user captures images of one or more documents containing information needed to complete an insurance application, after which the information on the documents is extracted and sent to the insurance company where a quote for the insurance policy can be developed. The quote can then be transmitted back to the user. Applications on the mobile device are configured to capture images of the documents needed for an insurance application, such as a driver's license, insurance information card or a vehicle identification number (VIN). The images are then processed to extract the information needed for the insurance application.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2023Publication date: September 21, 2023Inventor: Michael STRANGE

Patent number: 11421722Abstract: A blind bolt and tool is used for fastening a bolt through a hole in a structure when only one side of the structure is accessible. A receiver is formed on the tip end of a bolt shaft opposite from a bolt head. Internal threads are formed within the receiver proximate an outward end, and a hex socket is formed in the inward end of the receiver. External threads and a guide are formed on a tip of the tool, and the external threads mate with the internal threads in the receiver to hold the bolt during installation. A hex key on one end of the tool engages the hex socket in the receiver so that the tool may impose a torque on the bolt when a nut is being tightened on the bolt. In another embodiment, a splined tip is formed on the end of the bolt. The tip is designed to shear off when a sufficient torque is applied. Also, a shim is configured to fit between structures held together by the blind bolt.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2021Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: Allfasteners USA, LLCInventors: Bruce A. Publication number: 20220076008Abstract: Systems and methods for automatic enrollment and identity verification based upon processing a captured image of a document are disclosed herein. Various embodiments enable, for example, a user to enroll in a particular service by taking a photograph of a particular document (e.g., his driver license) with a mobile device. One or more algorithms can then extract relevant data from the captured image. The extracted data (e.g., the person's name, gender, date of birth, height, weight, etc.) can then be used to automatically populate various fields of an enrollment application, thereby reducing the amount of information that the user has to manually input into his mobile device in order to complete the enrollment process. In some embodiments, a set of internal and/or external checks can be run against the data to ensure that the data is valid, has been read correctly, and is consistent with other data.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2021Publication date: March 10, 2022Inventors: Grigori NEPOMNIACHTCHI, James DEBELLO, Michael STRANGE, Michael E. DIAMOND

Publication number: 20220027613Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for defining and determining a formal and verifiable mobile document image quality and usability (MDIQU) standard, or Standard for short. The Standard ensures that a mobile image can be used in an appropriate mobile document processing application, for example an application for mobile check deposit. In order to quantify the usability, the Standard establishes 5 quality and usability grades. A mobile image capture device can capture images. A mobile device can receive information associated with one or more image quality assurance (IQA) criteria; evaluating the images to select an image satisfying an image quality criteria based on the received information; and in response to the image satisfying the image quality score, sending the selected image to determine a set of image quality assurance (IQA) scores.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2021Publication date: January 27, 2022Inventors: Grigori Nepomniachtchi, Michael Strange
