  • Patent number: 4683142
Abstract: A resorptive sheet material for closing and healing wounds substantially consists of a glycoprotein matrix containing substances which cause and, respectively, are conductive to the coagulation of blood including fibrinogen and thrombin. The sheet material is dry and of multi-layered structure, wherein at least one layer is free from thrombin and contains in the glycoprotein matrix thereof the fibrinogen in a substantially homogeneously distributed form, and at least one further layer is free from fibrinogen and contains in the glycoprotein matrix thereof the thrombin in a substantially homogenenously distributed form. The glycoproteins coming into consideration, above all, are non-linked fibrin, fibrin fission products, collagen, globulin, myoglobulin, casein and/or albumin.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 28, 1987
    Inventors: Eberhard Zimmermann, Michael Stroetmann

  • Patent number: 4442655
Abstract: A dry preparation having a foam-like and, respectively, fleece-like structure obtained by freeze-drying consists, apart from thrombin in at least catalytically active amounts, substantially of approx. 10 to 95% by weight of fibrin and approx. 5 to 90% by weight of fibrinogen. For the preparation thereof, fibrin is produced in situ in an aqueous solution containing fibrinogen and thrombin and the resultant reaction mixture is deep-frozen and lyophilized. As further constituents of the dry preparation active substances such as e.g. antibiotics, natural bone material and/or a synthetic, bone-forming substitute, glycoproteins, coagulation-conducive substances and the like and/or fibrinolysis inhibitors come into consideration. The dry preparation is provided mainly for use as a wound toilet material, as a filling material for bone cavities and/or as a supporting material for further active substances.

  • Patent number: 4427650
Abstract: A preparation for accelerated hemostasis and optimized biochemical control of wound closure ("tissue adhesive") consists only of solid, powdery, biologically active constituents and contains 60 to 96% by weight of fibrinogen, which is largely liberated from cryo-insoluble globulin, 0.05 to 5% by weight of a fibrinolysis inhibitor, and 0.1 to 15% by weight of thrombin and/or prothrombin. For use, this enriched plasma derivative may be applied in the form of a dry, powdery mixture immediately and directly onto the wound or in the area of operation, respectively. Further application methods provide atomizing, spraying, or foaming of the powdery mixture by means of a propellant.

  • Patent number: 4427651
Abstract: A sprayable preparation for accelerated hemostasis and optimized biochemical control of wound closure contains a powdery mixture of 15 to 60% by weight of thrombin, 5 to 80% by weight of a desiccating and stabilizing agent, viz., albumin, globulin and/or fibrinogen, and 1 to 10% by weight of a fibrinolysis inhibitor. The powdery mixture is suspended in a low-boiling, anhydrous solvent, which is used as a propellant. For effective wound closure and coverage, a spray jet of this suspension is directed onto the wound under evaporation of the solvent so that substantially only the dry, solid powdery mixture reaches the wound. This method of application by spraying is also disclosed.
