  • Patent number: 6301842
Abstract: Parallel spaced elongated deck planks are extruded of a rigid plastics material, and each plank includes opposite vertical side walls integrally connected by a generally flat top wall and a contoured bottom wall. The bottom wall of each plank is formed by coplanar bottom edge portions and a bottom center portion integrally connected by a pair of inverted U-shaped or semi-cylindrical portions defining parallel spaced downwardly facing semi-cylindrical cavities. Radially positioned and thinner internal reinforcement walls integrally connect the top wall to each semi-cylindrical bottom wall portion, and a vertical center wall integrally connects the top wall with the bottom wall center portion. Elongated aluminum carrier strips cover the wood supporting joists, and each carrier strip has outwardly and downwardly projecting opposite edge portions to direct water from the joists.

  • Patent number: 6299142
Abstract: Horizontally spaced vertical posts each include a square tubular extruded plastic sleeve enclosing a square tubular metal reinforcing post having a lower end portion with keyhole and vertical slots in each side for receiving bolts preassembled to a supporting frame or substructure. Upper and lower elongated rails each include a tubular extruded plastic body enclosing a metal reinforcing channel and also define a longitudinally extending open cavity. Opposite end portions of the rails project into corresponding openings within the posts, and an elongated extruded plastic cap has longitudinal snap clips engaging opposing lips projecting into the cavity within the upper rail. A plurality of plastic vertical spindles have upper and lower end portions projecting into the bodies and channels of the upper and lower rails, and the end portions of the rail bodies have outwardly projecting retaining barbs within the posts.

  • Patent number: 6055782
Abstract: A window frame includes tubular sill, head and jamb members of extruded plastics material, and each member has laterally spaced inner and outer walls integrally connected by laterally extending transverse walls. A nailing flange projects laterally outwardly from each outer wall for securing the frame within a wall opening, and each frame member has an integral exterior portion projecting outwardly from the corresponding nailing flanges. The exterior portion of each frame member cooperates with an exterior transverse wall to define a groove or channel extending laterally inwardly from the outer wall for receiving the edge portion of exterior siding. Narrower frame members also have cavities within the interior transverse walls for receiving the edge portions of interior wood sill, head and jamb extenders.

  • Patent number: 5738391
Abstract: A fulcrum lock for preventing substantial movement of a window sash when wind forces are directed against the sash. The sash includes a frame that is contained in an outer window frame. The fulcrum lock has an elongated main body provided with a fulcrum or pivot surface located between the ends of the main body, and legs that extend generally perpendicular to the extent of the main body. The fulcrum lock is located in one of the sash or window frames, while the other of said frames is provided with an opening located to receive one of the ends of the fulcrum lock when the other end is engaged by the frame containing the opening.

  • Patent number: 5461837
Abstract: A window meeting rail for single hung windows made from hollow plastic parts. The meeting rail comprises an elongated body, a clip inserted into an opening in the body and fastener means for joining the clip to a window jamb. The clip defines a bore and has wings spaced radially outward from the bore and extending generally parallel thereto. A preferred meeting rail has a hollow body and also includes a metal cross rail inserted into the hollow body for added strength and rigidity. Tightening a screw inserted into the bore spreads the wings outward so that hooks on end portions of the clip wings are wedged into slots formed in lateral walls of the cross rail.
