Exemplary embodiments include a method to throttle client access to servers, the method including maintaining local state information on active and pending requests, receiving a delay call from a client, calculating a delay, incrementing a pending operation count, p, returning the delay value to the client, decrementing the pending operation count, p, and incrementing an active operation count, a, in response to a start of an operation by a client, decrementing the active operation count in response to a operation finishing, recording a timestamp to record when a last pending operation should start, and resetting the pending operation count to 0, in response to a next delay request being received after the timestamp is recorded.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing is employed to produce a size-reduced frequency control device (300), according to the present invention. A temperature compensation circuit (304) and an unsealed piezoelectric element (302) are disposed on a substrate (306) such that the compensation circuit and the unsealed piezoelectric element are electrically connected. A hermetic seal (318) is established between a lid (308) and the substrate such that the unsealed piezoelectric element and at least a temperature sensitive portion of the temperature compensation circuit occupy a sealed environment (320). In this manner, dimensions (322, 324) of the frequency control device are reduced.

    Abstract: The invention concerns novel, pharmaceutically useful, benzheterocyclyl sulphones of the formula I: ##STR1## in which ring A may bear optional halogeno, (1-4C)alkyl or fluoro(1-4C)alkyl substituents; X is oxygen, or a group of the formula --S(O).sub.n -- or --NR.sup.1 -- in which n is zero, 1 or 2 and R.sup.1 is hydrogen, (1-4C)alkyl, (1-6C)alkanoyl, benzoyl or phenyl(1-4C)alkyl, the last two optionally substituted; Y is various linking groups defined hereinafter, such as ethylene or trimethylene; and in which the group --SO.sub.2 CH.sub.2 NO.sub.2 is located at position a, b or c in ring A; together with the non-toxic thereof. Other aspects of the invention include the production of the novel compounds by analogy processes and pharmaceutical compositions of the novel compounds for use in the treatment of diabetic complications.

Processes for the manufacture of the compounds. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising one of the compounds and a pharmaceutical diluent or carrier. The compounds are antagonists at the opiate receptors, and most of them are selective .delta.-receptor antagonists.
