  • Patent number: 8791828
Abstract: A CO detector includes a sensor configured to detect a presence of CO and generate a signal indicative of the presence of CO, and a controller in signal communication with the sensor. The controller is configured to measure a level of detected CO in response to receiving the signal generated by the sensor. The controller is further configured to detect a first trouble condition representative of an end-of-life condition of the sensor, and a second trouble condition different from the first trouble condition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 27, 2011
Date of Patent: July 29, 2014
Assignee: UTC Fire & Security Americas Corporation, Inc.
Inventors: Michael T. Harkins, Bradley B. Barnes
  • Patent number: 8786400
Abstract: An access device for a system having at least one lock that is configured to receive instructions and to energize a lock mechanism to unlock the at least one lock and a computer is disposed at a remote location from the at least one lock and the access device. The computer is connected to a primary wireless communication path. The access device comprises at least one key configured for communicating with the computer via the primary wireless communication path and to communicate with the lock over a secondary wireless communications path and wherein the at least one key further is configured as authorized to unlock the at least one lock absent a de-authorizing instruction from the computer.

  • Patent number: 5587895
Abstract: An electric power supply that accommodates a wide range of input voltages utilizes a half wave rectifier connected to the input of a MOSFET switching transistor the output of which is connected to a power supply filter capacitor and a zener diode voltage regulator. A fold-back transistor is connected to the zener diode and is operable upon conduction of the zener diode to turn on just enough to cause the switching transistor to turn off just enough to maintain the voltage set by the zener diode and maintain the charge on the power supply filter capacitor. A latch transistor is connected to the MOSFET transistor and is operable during conduction of the fold-back transistor to cause the switching transistor to turn off. During the negative half cycle of the source voltage to the half wave rectifier, the power supply is turned off and the capacitor supplies all of the voltages and current to the circuit.
