  • Patent number: 11198095
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and apparatus for producing silica concentrates from geothermal fluids containing at least 300 ppm silica, by passing the fluid at a temperature above 80° C. and at a pH reduced to between 4.0 and 7.5 through a reverse osmosis membrane. In the diagram, geothermal fluid (I) is passed to a separator (2) to be flashed to produce steam (3) and separated geothermal water (SGW) (4). The SGW (4) is passed to a heat exchanger (5) then inlet pump (7). Acid is introduced to the geothermal fluid flow at a dosing means (6) to reduce the pH and an anti-sealant may also be introduced. The geothermal fluid is then passed to a reverse osmosis unit (8) to produce a concentrate (9) and a permeate (10). Following reverse osmosis, the concentrate and permeate may be treated with other processes to produce the desired product and concentration. For example, if precipitated silica is produced, the concentrate is passed to a curing tank (11) and to a thickener (12).

  • Patent number: 9558231
Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with a data view for clinical data are described. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a request from a user to view summarized case report form (CRF) data, where the CRF data corresponds to a plurality case report forms (CRFs) stored in one or more normalized transactional tables. A view query is constructed based, at least in part, on the request and executed on one or more denormalized summary tables to construct a view. The denormalized summary tables store selected CRF data from the normalized transactional tables and are updated concurrently with each update to the transactional tables. The method includes rendering the view for display.

  • Patent number: 9101272
Abstract: A radiation shield is fixed to scanning equipment at a location that attenuates a moving beam of radiation only while the beam passes over a relatively vulnerable portion, especially anterior portion, of the patient's body. Such an in-plane shield can be selective as to radiation wavelength attenuation. As an example, for scanners that use X-rays, the low energy portion of the spectrum can be selectively blocked while the high energy portion of the spectrum passes through to the patient and detector. When embodied in a CT X-ray scanner, the selective attenuation can be achieved with a thin slice bismuth shield/filter permanently installed on at least the anterior quadrant of the gantry, preferably on a span of approximately about 140 deg. in registry with the circular path of the source.
