  • Patent number: 11111095
Abstract: An apparatus and method for supporting sheet material, comprising a frame including a first arm and a second arm, the second arm in communication with the first arm to support a roll of the sheet material there-between, and a drive roller for transporting the sheet material from the roll. The first arm and the second arm automatically resize the frame corresponding to the dimensions of the roll of the sheet material to provide constant tension in the roll of sheet material by controlling a position of the roll of the sheet material.

  • Patent number: 6655436
Abstract: A labeling head includes a printing unit and an applicator foot assembly for printing and applying labels onto a layup of material. The printing unit is integral to the labeling head and prints each label prior to applying the label to the layup. The applicator foot assembly transfers the printed label onto the layup. The labeling head of the present invention can be used either with a cutter, a spreader or as a standalone unit. The labeling head of the present invention prints and prepares labels while the cutter head cuts the part. Once the part is cut, the labeling head applies the prepared label onto the cut part. The labeling head also includes a layup height sensor allowing the labels to be applied to layup having varying heights.

  • Patent number: 5938187
Abstract: An apparatus for feeding media to an internal drum imaging system includes a pair of parallel rails secured to a support frame that is mechanically isolated from the imaging system. The tracks are parallel to the outer circumferential edges of the internal drum. The feeding apparatus further includes a plurality of media engagement means movably coupled between the tracks. The engagement means are adapted to transport the medium to and from the internal drum along the tracks. Each engagement means includes a rail extending between the tracks and a pair of drive means pivotally connected to the ends of the rail for advancing the rail along the tracks. Each engagement means further includes a lifting means for raising and lowering the rail and a coupling means disposed to the undersurface of the rail for securing the media to the rail.

  • Patent number: 5450116
Abstract: An apparatus automatically generates a tape having splice area and other markings which indicate acceptable splice points on a length of fabric from which garment pattern pieces are to be cut. The apparatus includes a computer for calculating splice and other pertinent points on a fabric layup. The apparatus also includes a controller for receiving printing commands from the computer. The apparatus also includes a printer responsive to signals from the controller for quickly and accurately printing on the tape splice information and data identifying the marker for which the splice point indicating tape was generated. The apparatus also includes a tape advance system for advancing the tape from a supply roll to the printer and then to a takeup roll.

  • Patent number: 5230765
Abstract: An automated labeling apparatus is provided for positioning and applying identifying labels on predetermined positions along a layup of sheet material prior to cutting. The apparatus includes multiple labeling carriage assemblies mounted on a support beam for independent movement thereon. At least one label printer-load station is attached to the apparatus so as to be accessible to the labeling carriage assemblies for providing preprinted identifying labels. A central processing computer controls movement of the support beam and the labeling carriage assemblies as well as the functioning of the label printer-load station so as to coordinate operation of the labeling carriage assemblies for efficient operation.
