Publication number: 20230158273Abstract: A sleep assessment system includes a housing, processing circuitry, and a sensor assembly with a plurality of sensors configured to capture measurements that include indications of both brain and eye activity through the forehead of a subject. The processing circuitry is configured to receive sensor signals based on the measurements made by the plurality of sensors, process the sensor signals to generate sleep data, apply a sleep state convolutional neural network to the sleep data to determine a current sleep state of a subject, identify, based on the sleep data and the current sleep state, a sleep state-based data feature, and output a stimulus to the subject based on sleep state-based data feature. The housing is configured to be secured to the forehead of the subject, and the sensor assembly and processing circuitry are disposed on or within the housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 23, 2022Publication date: May 25, 2023Inventors: William G. Patent number: 9191086Abstract: An apparatus includes a processor disposed within an enclosure and configured to communicate with multiple wireless devices. A first and a second antenna are disposed within the enclosure. The first antenna is configured to operate within a first band, and the second antenna is configured to operate within a second band. The second band has a center frequency less than a center frequency of the first band. The first antenna is configured to send a signal having a signal strength at a wireless device and associated with the first band, and the second antenna is configured to send a signal having a signal strength at the wireless device and associated with the second band. The signal strength for the signal associated with the first band is greater than the signal strength associated with the second band such that the wireless device selects the first band to communicate with the processor.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2012Date of Patent: November 17, 2015Assignee: Juniper Networks, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey L. Patent number: 8950449Abstract: A cutter head for surfacing a flitch, the cutter head including a shaft, a blade non-rotatably mounted on the shaft, wherein the flitch is surfaced by rotating the blade, a bushing including a bore, wherein the shaft runs through the bore, wherein a flange is eccentrically formed about the bore, a guide mounted on the flange of the bushing, wherein the flange axially offsets the guide with respect to the shaft, wherein the guide is arranged to support the cutter head against the flitch while the cutter head is surfacing the flitch, and wherein a radial distance between a tip of the blade and the guide determines a cutting depth of the cutter head, and wherein due to the guide being mounted on the eccentrically formed flange, the radial offset is determined based on a rotational orientation of the bushing about the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2010Date of Patent: February 10, 2015Assignee: Merritt Machinery, LLCInventors: Arlington Ruff, Clifford Ruff, Mark J. Zirnheld, Michael T. Smith

Publication number: 20020138757Abstract: A method for securely transmitting information from a network appliance is disclosed. The method includes initially executing a secure kernel and a configuration file containing a load file onto the network appliance. The secure kernel is used to verify the authenticity of the configuration file and a load table within the configuration file.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2001Publication date: September 26, 2002Applicant: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: James T. Patent number: 5582216Abstract: An apparatus and method for installing wire fencing including a support frame drawn by a conveyance and supporting an upstanding wire unit support spindle. A plurality of wire fencing units which may include one or and a combination of one or more wire fencing balls or spools of stranded wire fencing or a roll of field fencing are placed coaxially about the upstanding support spindle. Separator plates are placed between the wire fencing units and then the free wire ends are attached to a fence posts. The conveyance moves along a line of fence posts and the wire fencing of each of the wire fencing units is simultaneously dispensed. A drag assembly applies a drag force against a portion of the support spindle to prevent uncontrolled pay-out of the wire fencing as the wire is dispensed. A clamp assembly, selectively engagable with portions of the payed-out is provided for isolating pulling tension form wire remaining supported on wire units as the fencing is stretched prior to attachment to the fence posts.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1994Date of Patent: December 10, 1996Inventors: Michael T. Smith, Barry K. Cole

Patent number: 4821373Abstract: There is described a hinged structure comprising two supports and one or more hinges hinging the supports together so that they are parallel and closely adjacent, the or each hinge comprising two hinge members, each hinge member being made of resilient strip material, each hinge member being S-shaped, passing partially round each support and together with the other hinge member forming a letter .chi. or FIG. 8 configuration as seen in a direction along the supports, wherein a releasable catch is provided for holding the supports in a predetermined relative angular position, the catch comprising two cam members each associated with a respective suport and the two being resiliently urged into engagement and so shaped and arranged that rotation away from the said predetermined relative angular position of the supports urges the cam members apart against the resilient urging.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1987Date of Patent: April 18, 1989Assignee: Courier Products LimitedInventors: Robert A. M. Maidment, Michael T. Smith

Patent number: 4467935Abstract: The seal consists of a hollow stud member which is welded to the enclosure to be secured and a cap member which holds the enclosure cover in place when secured to the stud. The cap member has a body section and a pin element extending from it. The pin element has an end portion that is shaped so as to be permanently secured once it enters a receiving element in the stud member. The cap member further has a random identity element, such as a randomly wound coil mounted in a cavity within the cap body. One end of the identity element is fixed to the cap member body section and the other end is fixed to the pin element end portion; such that the identity of the identity element is altered when the end portion is broken away from the pin element.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1983Date of Patent: August 28, 1984Assignee: Atomic Energy of Canada LimitedInventors: Simon Backer, Michael T.
