    Abstract: A theft-resistant coupling system for a trailer having a tongue includes a hitch receiver configured to receive a vehicle-engaging member for coupling the trailer to a vehicle. A coupler is receivably matable with the hitch receiver. The coupler includes a proximal portion and a distal portion. A blocking member is coupled to the distal portion that is substantially incapable of being functionally mated to a vehicle-engaging member, thereby preventing the vehicle from safely towing the trailer. A lock is movable between a locked position for locking the coupler to the hitch receiver and an unlocked position for permitting the coupler to be removed from the hitch receiver.
