    Abstract: An electrochemical cell comprises as an anode, a lithium transition metal oxide or sulphide compound which has a [B2]X4n? spinel-type framework structure of an A[B2]X4 spinel wherein A and B are metal cations selected from Li, Ti, V, Mn, Fe and Co, X is oxygen or sulphur, and n? refers to the overall charge of the structural unit [B2]X4 of the framework structure. The transition metal cation in the fully discharged state has a mean oxidation state greater than +3 for Ti, +3 for V, +3.5 for Mn, +2 for Fe and +2 for Co. The cell includes as a cathode, a lithium metal oxide or sulphide compound. An electrically insulative lithium containing liquid or polymeric electronically conductive electrolyte is provided between the anode and the cathode.

    Abstract: An auxiliary male twist-lock plug-adapter for converting a female twist-lock plug-adapter to male. The male adapter is a disc defining an upper and a lower face. Three twist-lock electrode-prongs project from the upper surface, and three conventional electrode-prongs project from the lower surface. Either of the two sets of three prongs may be coupled to the female twist-lock plug adapter so that the other, uncoupled set may be connected to a conventional female plug or to another female twist-lock plug adapter.

    Abstract: An adapter for a twist-lock extension cord in which the adapter replaces the female plug-end of the extension cord. The adapter has a face plate in which are formed three curved cutouts for receiving the three curved electrodes of a twist-lock male plug. There are also provided on the face plate two straight cutouts for receiving the two electrodes of a standard household male plug. One of the curved cutouts is ground, and also receives the ground of the standard household-type male plug. Three terminals are provided, one associated with the ground cutout, and each of the other two associated with a pair of one curved and one straight cutout. A clamp secures the exposed wires of the extension cord to the adapter for connection to the terminals, thereby converting the extension cord to one that receives not only twist-lock male plugs but also standard household-type male plugs.
