Patent number: 11973374Abstract: A brushless direct-current motor is provided includes an inner stator and an outer rotor. The rotor includes a rotor core disposed around the stator, an inner annular member mounted on a rotor shaft, and a plurality of radial blades extending angularly from the rotor core to the inner annular member forming a fan. A first end cap is provided including a radial back plate proximate the fan and a center opening in the radial back plate through which the rotor shaft extends. A second end cap is provided including a main body disposed adjacent the stator opposite the fan. The radial back plate of the first end cap includes at least one sloped surface forming at least one air gap such that the airflow generated by the fan is centrifugally guided within the first end cap by the sloped surface and caused to exit through the air gap.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2020Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventors: John B. Patent number: 11941311Abstract: In one example, a system can receive an order from a client device. The system can also receive data about a set of print queues at a set of printers via a network. The system can then determine a set of queue times corresponding to the set of print queues. Each respective queue time can be determined based on a corresponding print queue. The system can generate an estimated wait time for the order based on the set of queue times. The system can then transmit the estimated wait time to the client device for display in a graphical user interface to a user associated with the order.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2023Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: Starbucks CorporationInventors: Harsh Nigam, Michael J. Publication number: 20210334571Abstract: A system performs processing of biometric information to create multiple templates. This allows biometric systems to be flexible and interact with a plurality of vendors' technologies. Specifically, a biometric sample is captured from a sensor and transmitted to a processing component. The biometric sample is then processed by a first algorithm to yield a biometric template and the template is stored and associated with a record identifier. The biometric sample is also processed by a second algorithm to yield a second template. The second template is stored and associated with the record identifier.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2021Publication date: October 28, 2021Applicant: FUSIONARC , INC.Inventors: Michael THIEME, Samir NANAVATI, Rajkumar NANAVATI, Mcken MAK

Publication number: 20180352764Abstract: A method for the mobilization of a transposable element is provided. The method comprises the steps of a) providing an inhibitor of DNA methylation, and/or an inhibitor of transcription, and b) contacting the inhibitor(s) with a cell comprising inactivated transposable elements, yielding a cell with mobilized transposable elements. In a second aspect of the invention a method for increasing the genetic and/or epigenetic variation in a plurality of eukaryotic organisms is provided. The method comprises the steps of i. providing an inhibitor of DNA methylation and/or an inhibitor of transcription, ii. contacting the organism with the inhibitor(s) and iii. propagating the organism.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2016Publication date: December 13, 2018Applicant: UNIVERSITAT BASELInventors: Etienne BUCHER, Michael THIEME

Patent number: 9042607Abstract: Dispensing units for dispensing items, such as in a healthcare facility, are linked in a network. The dispensing units use a fingerprint to authenticate users. The fingerprints on a short list reflect recent authorization, and permit access without other identifying information. Dispensing units in the network may use different fingerprint scanning technologies, but are made compatible by enrolling fingerprints using the different technologies. Two or more reference fingerprints may be stored at a dispensing unit, permitting either a primary fingerprint or alternate fingerprint to gain access to that dispensing unit. During enrollment of a user, fingerprints for a user may be “fast tracked” for registration based upon a quality determination.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2011Date of Patent: May 26, 2015Assignee: OMNICELL, INC.Inventors: Andrew Chai, Dan Cohen, Joy Smith, Michael Thieme, Justin Metzger, Jennifer Cartright

Publication number: 20110202246Abstract: A system for controlling a parking brake for a motor vehicle includes a first operator control arrangement and a control unit. The control unit puts the parking brake into a disengaged position by actuating a first electrical actuator when it recognizes a release request on the first operator control arrangement. In order to release the parking brake at least in the event of a fault in the first operator control arrangement and/or in the first electrical actuator, provision is also made for the control unit to put the parking brake into the disengaged position by actuating a second electrical actuator, which is independent of the first electrical actuator, redundantly when it recognizes an emergency release request on a second operator control arrangement.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2011Publication date: August 18, 2011Inventors: RYAN LINDSAY, MICHAEL THIEME, PETER MÜNCH

Patent number: 6524718Abstract: A metallic object, having a metallic substrate of a valve metal or a valve metal alloy inclusive of intermetallic phases, and a thin polyphase oxide coating, is disclosed. The polyphase oxide coating has a metal oxide phase and at least one other organic and/or inorganic phase. The polyphase oxide coating is produced by bringing the metallic substrate into contact with an organic and/or inorganic component to be integrated into the polyphase oxide coating such that the inorganic and/or organic phases are present at or in the direct vicinity of the substrate surface and by simultaneously or subsequently anodically polarizing the substrate material in an electrolytic solution.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1999Date of Patent: February 25, 2003Assignee: Merck Patent GmbHInventors: Hartmut Worch, Michael Thieme, Dieter Scharnweber, Sophie Rössler, Martina Stölzel

Patent number: 5076238Abstract: With a process and an apparatus for cold-start control in an electronic internal combustion engine system, the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine are supplied, during starting, with the increased fuel feed. The fuel feed per an ignition interval (TD.sub.n) is effected by a plurality of short cold-start injection pulses generated at increased frequency at linear time intervals with respect to one another in respective ignition intervals. This frequency control replaces the normal formation of fuel injection pulses corresponding to half-periods of crankshaft rotation, during starting, and is cancelled upon commencement of preset fuel reduction thresholds. Owing to the fuel atomisation attained, there results a spontaneously ignitable mixture, so that a cold start is still possible even at extremely cold temperatures.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1991Date of Patent: December 31, 1991Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Willi Rosenau, Paul Valenta, Michael Thieme
