Publication number: 20240144283Abstract: A financial institution computing system includes a network circuit exchanging information over a network, a customer database storing financial information, and a transaction circuit. The transaction circuit receives a transaction request associated with a user computing device. The transaction request specifies a financial account. The transaction circuit receives payment card location information indicative of a location of a payment card with respect to the user computing device. The payment card location information indicates that the payment card is within a threshold distance of the user computing device. The transaction circuit authenticates the transaction request using the payment card location information and by determining whether the payment card is associated with an authorized user of the financial account.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 8, 2024Publication date: May 2, 2024Applicant: Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.Inventors: Tiffany N. Twilley, Michael Tilaro, Jonathan E. Hoveland, Sara V. Althoff, Jay M. Bozicevich

Patent number: 11004074Abstract: A payment device includes a biometric sensor configured to receive a biometric measurement from a user. The payment device also includes a display configured to selectively display sensitive payment account information for a payment account of the user. The payment account is associated with the payment device. The payment device further includes a processor and instructions stored in non-transitory machine-readable media. The instructions are configured to cause the payment device to receive the biometric measurement from the biometric sensor. The user is authenticated if the biometric measurement matches a stored biometric of the user. Upon authenticating the user, the sensitive payment account information is displayed on the display. The sensitive payment account information is removed from the display a first predetermined time period after authenticating the user.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2015Date of Patent: May 11, 2021Assignee: Wells Fargo Bank. Publication number: 20210090078Abstract: A financial institution computing system includes a network circuit exchanging information over a network, a customer database storing financial information for a plurality of customers, a user activity circuit, and a transaction circuit. The user activity circuit receives activity data over the network that is indicative of an activity of an authorized user of the financial account specified in a transaction request. The transaction circuit receives a transaction request over the network specifying a financial account. The transaction circuit authenticates the transaction request by determining that the activity data is indicative of an expected activity associated with a characteristic of the transaction request. The transaction circuit authorizes the transaction request based at least in part on whether the transaction request is authenticated and information in the customer database.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2016Publication date: March 25, 2021Inventors: Jay M.
