  • Publication number: 20240111714
Abstract: Direct Image Lookup (DIL) metadata is used to perform differential operation for snapshots and linked targets. Each snapshot contains metadata to store “images” to perform direct lookup of user data for any part of any snapshot in the system. Metadata pages of DIL image data represent sets of tracks of data. Metadata pages of subsequent snapshots for the same sets of tracks are compared, and where there are no changes to a given metadata page for a given set of tracks between subsequent snapshot copies, the differential process is not run on the tracks associated with the metadata page. If a given metadata page associated with a set of tracks has changed between subsequent snapshots, the differential process is used to identify which tracks in the subsequent snapshot contain different data than the corresponding tracks of the previous snapshot. Similar differential processing also is implemented for relinked target devices.

  • Publication number: 20070039437
Abstract: A system for cutting and wrapping blocks of synthetic material enables a material block to be pre-cut into a form substantially ready to be used as packaging filler while maintaining the original compact block shape for shipping and storage. In one aspect, the system takes synthetic material blocks, such as thermoplastic blocks, and sequentially drives the blocks through a cutting mechanism that cuts the blocks in two directions to form thermoplastic strips. The thermoplastic strips are held together in the original geometric form of the block through the cutting process, and thereafter a rotating wrapper applies a wrapping material to the pre-cut thermoplastic block secure the pre-cut block in the original geometric form. A block or log magazine sequentially positions multiple synthetic material blocks prior to being driven through the cutting mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20050242147
Abstract: This disassembly of a pre-cut block of packaging material into component pieces and the selective dispensing of the component pieces is accomplished by a mechanism including a disassembling apparatus and a dispensing apparatus surrounded by a housing. The disassembling apparatus accepts individual pre-cut blocks from a queue and compresses a portion of the respective pre-cut block to cause separation into the plurality of component pieces. The plurality of component pieces then fall into the dispensing apparatus, which selectively dispenses the pieces separated as desired by a user.

  • Patent number: 6454424
Abstract: A service unit provided with a door having an evenly illuminated lens is disclosed. The service panel, typically containing at least one outlet, provided behind the door further preferably includes a socket for receiving a lamp. The lamp used in the present invention preferably directs light towards a bottom side of the unit, in a direction across the lens when the door is in a closed position, such that the light is evenly distributed across the lens. The door includes an opening for receiving the lens that is further preferably provided with an indented lip recessed from the front surface of the door such that the lens lies substantially flush with the front surface of the door. A plastic rivet may secure the lens to the lip, as may a bead of adhesive along the lip. The lip is preferably not present along the top side of the opening for allowing the top side of the opening to serve as a rain shed for the lens. The lens may include an alphanumeric symbol for identifying a particular camp site.
