  • Patent number: 9355676
Abstract: A data storage device is disclosed comprising a disk, a spindle motor configured to rotate the disk, wherein the spindle motor comprises a plurality of windings, and a head actuated over the disk. The windings of the spindle motor are commutated based on a commutation sequence while applying a periodic driving voltage to each winding, wherein the periodic driving voltage comprises an operating amplitude during normal operation. When a supply voltage falls below a threshold, the spindle motor is configured into a power generator by at least adjusting the amplitude and a phase of the periodic driving voltage so that a periodic current flowing through each winding is substantially opposite in phase from a sinusoidal back electromotive force (BEMF) voltage generated by each winding.

  • Patent number: 9214175
Abstract: A data storage device is disclosed comprising a first disk surface comprising servo data defining servo tracks at a first radial density, a first head, and a voice coil motor (VCM) configured to actuate the first head over the first disk surface using a servo control system. A load operation is executed to load the first head over the first disk surface, and a back electromotive force (BEMF) voltage generated by the VCM during the load operation is evaluated to generate an estimated distance traveled. The servo data on the first disk surface is detected, and an initial servo track during the load operation based on the detected servo data to generate a measured distance traveled. A gain of the servo control system is configured based on the estimated distance traveled and the measured distance traveled.

  • Patent number: 8845144
Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) driver case includes a housing, driver circuitry, an recessed area in the housing, and a luminaire disconnect. The luminaire disconnect is coupled to the recessed area in the housing and extends toward an aperture in a top plate of a LED module. The luminaire disconnect can be fixedly or removably coupled to the recessed area in the housing. When the luminaire disconnect is removably coupled to the recessed area, one or more of a number of retaining features can be used to prevent the luminaire disconnect from moving or to limit the movement of the luminaire disconnect.

  • Publication number: 20140077491
Abstract: The branching apparatus according to the present invention includes two power supply terminals mounted on a saddle in the opposite direction of a branch connection part branched from a cylindrical body, so that they are not overlapped with the branch connection part when an electric socket is connected to the power supply terminal, and hence, it provides easiness in work. Moreover, because the branch connection part is slantly mounted directly above the main pipe, a trace wire inserted into the branch connection part and the main pipe is not bent, and hence, the trace wire can trace exact length and position.

  • Patent number: 8424460
Abstract: A zip line trolley includes a frame assembled from a pair of spaced-apart parallel side plates and an inner beam, which is partially sandwiched between the side plates. The inner beam has a gallery of block-T-shaped cross section which extends its length. A shackle, from which a rider is suspended, can be pinned anywhere within the gallery. A main pulley, which is installed in an upper middle portion of the frame, rotates on a pair of sealed ball bearing races that are pressed on a hollow keyed shaft which slides into opposed grooves machined into each of the side plates. The keyed shaft is bolted between the side plates with a shoulder bolt passing transversely through both side plates. A water-wiping brake pad is pivotally mounted within the frame in front of the main pulley. A bumper is bolted between front portions of the side plates.

  • Patent number: 8002147
Abstract: A drip tray trap divides a cavity of the drip tray into an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber. The trap includes perforations to permit the passage of liquids, and to restrict the movement of foreign objects and ice cubes to a drip tray outlet, thereby removing the possibility the foreign objects and ice cubes clogging a drip tray drain. The trap includes at least one angled engagement surface and at least one angled engagement surface. The angle of the engagement surfaces forces the ice cubes and foreign objects to move to lowest positions of the inlet chamber. The rerouted ice cubes melt and move through the perforations of the trap, thereby entering the outlet chamber and moving to the drip tray outlet. In a second embodiment, the trap includes handling features to facilitate the insertion and removal of the trap from the cavity of the drip tray for sanitizing.

  • Patent number: 7910047
Abstract: A method for molding through parts employs gas-assist molding techniques. The method includes closing a mold to create a part cavity, injecting resin into the mold, injecting a gas into a resin stream to create hollow sections in the part, opening the mold, and ejecting a part using conventional mold ejection techniques. The final step of the process includes trimming the as-molded part to expose the through section of the fitting. The fitting may be molded with sealing features for use in tubing assemblies. Advantages of this process include higher working pressure ranges, as well as reduced manufacturing costs and assembly time. The molded tubing fitting formed in this process invention is a through fitting which incorporates features representing o-rings installed on a part into the mold and ultimately into the exterior surface of the molded fitting. This process may eliminate injection molded o-ring fittings from the connection entirely.

  • Patent number: 6969813
Abstract: A direct mount rotary handle operating mechanism for operating a circuit breaker having electrical contacts. The handle mechanism includes a driver coupled to the circuit breaker and a handle having a socket for receiving the driver. The socket is configured to allow the handle to rotate relative to the driver. The handle further includes a movable locking pin. A lock latch is associated with the driver, wherein the lock latch includes a flange portion. When the electrical contacts of the circuit breaker are welded closed and a torque is applied to the handle, the handle rotates to a position in which the pin is blocked from being inserted into the locking hole by the flange portion thereby preventing the handle from being locked in an OFF position when the contacts are welded together.

  • Publication number: 20040198502
Abstract: A zip line thrill ride system includes a cable suspended between a upper cable support tower and platform which, together, function as the harnessing, loading, and take-off point for the ride, and a lower cable support tower and platform which, together, function as the landing, unloading and unharnessing point of the ride. Multiple, substantially identical trolleys are designed to quickly engage and disengage the cable. The trolley includes a frame of generally I-beam cross section, a generally tubular brake retainer, having a longitudinal slit therein, is welded to an upper rear portion of the frame. A grooved, generally cylindrical brake fabricated from a durable polymeric material is rotatably affixed within the tubular brake retainer. When the trolley is affixed to the suspended cable by sliding the cable into the slit and rotating the brake, the grooved insert rides against the suspended cable and generates friction.

  • Patent number: 6797903
Abstract: A method and an extended rotary operating mechanism for a circuit breaker having a movable operating handle coupled to a shaft, and electrical contacts, the extended rotary operating mechanism comprising a handle operator defining a socket. A blocking plate mounted in the socket, with the blocking plate including a blocking shape. A shaft adapter is coupled to the blocking plate and the shaft. If the electrical contacts of the circuit breaker are welded closed and a torque is applied to the operator handle, the blocking shape prevents the handle operator from being locked in an “OFF” position independently of the operating handle position, by covering a locking hole. The shaft adapter may include one of an extended socket and a recessed socket configured to engage the shaft.
