  • Patent number: 10699834
Abstract: Electromagnetic locking devices, systems, and methods are provided. The electromagnetic locking devices, systems, and methods are configured to lock an actuating arm of an actuator in any desired position between and including a fully extended position and a fully retracted position with respect to an outer cover of the electromagnetic locking device and/or system. The electromagnetic locking devices, systems, and methods described herein may include an unpowered deformable member that imparts fail-safe functionality thereto.

  • Publication number: 20180195563
Abstract: Motion control systems, devices, and methods are operable for controlling rotary motion of an actuated device. In one aspect, a motion control device is coupled between an external motive input (200) and a rotary output device (300). The motion control device has a brake core (110) configured to produce an electromagnetic field when an electric current is applied. A brake band (130) made of a magnetically responsive material surrounds the brake core (110) and is coupled to the brake core (110) when the electric current is applied. A rotor (120) that is coupled to both the external motive input (200) and the rotary output surrounds at least the perimeter of the brake band (130) and is coupled to the brake band (130) for rotation together. When the electric current is applied, the rotor (120) and the brake core (110) are thus rotatably locked together to control rotary motion generated by actuating forces imparted by the external motive input (200).

  • Patent number: 8032996
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting barbs into a suture having a filament supply. The apparatus also has an in-feed collet for holding one end of a filament threaded therethrough. Further the apparatus has an out-feed collet for holding a second end of a filament threaded therethrough. Additionally, the apparatus has a holder positioned between said in-feed and out-feed collets for holding a filament suspended between the in-feed and out-feed collets. The apparatus also has a cutting assembly for cutting barbs in the filament tensioned between the in-feed and out-feed collets.

  • Publication number: 20050188985
Abstract: A medicament respiratory delivery device including a housing having a chamber, an inlet and an outlet generally coaxially aligned with the chamber, wherein the chamber includes a medicament cartridge having a body including a generally cylindrical passage extending through the opposed ends of the cartridge generally coaxially aligned with the inlet and outlet of the housing having thin burstable polyolefin membranes having a burst pressure of between 1.2 and 10 atmospheres stretched taut over the ends of the cartridge, such that fluid delivered to the inlet ruptures the membranes, entraining medicament contained within the cartridge passage which is delivered to the patient's respiratory system through the outlet.
