  • Patent number: 11766169
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to scan gauges, a kit of scan gauges, and methods for facilitating the acquisition of a scan during an intraoral scanning procedure using an intraoral scanner, including: an elongate body having an attachment portion configured to attach the elongate body with an implant in a patient's mouth, the implant having a longitudinal axis, whereby the elongate body is adapted to extend substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the implant when mounted to the implant; the elongate body having a substantially planar upper surface and one or more side walls extending downwardly away from the upper surface; wherein the upper surface and the one or more side walls are observable in a resulting scan when the intraoral scanner scans the apparatus in a direction perpendicular to the upper surface.

  • Publication number: 20220142753
Abstract: The invention concerns an apparatus for a denture preparation assembly, comprising an impression tray piece for insertion into the mouth of the patient and to receive impression material and a dental model jig attachable to the impression tray piece, said dental model jig including model teeth, wherein the attachment between the impression tray piece and the dental model jig is adjustable to allow the dental model jig to be moved in the mouth of the patient to a desired position relative to the impression tray piece, said relative position being retainable to allow scanning of the impression material and the dental model jig. The invention assists in 3D scanning for digital design/manufacture of dentures, and allows the model teeth to be positioned and orientated in the patient's mouth relative to the impression material in the impression tray piece in the patient's mouth, the position and orientation being retained when the apparatus is removed.

  • Publication number: 20210386529
Abstract: The invention provides a dental prosthesis, comprising: an implant frame configured to be fixed into the mouth of a patient to support replacement of two or more teeth of the patient, the implant frame having an exterior surface, the exterior surface defining a first engagement profile; and an overlay adapted to be secured to the implant frame and to provide, or afford mounting of, the two or more teeth, the overlay having an internal cavity that extends along a substantial length of the overlay, the internal cavity defining a second engagement profile, wherein the second engagement profile is complementary to the first engagement profile, thereby allowing fitment of a substantial portion of the exterior surface of the implant frame within the internal cavity.
