    Abstract: In a method for checking the suitability of a mobile telephone for connection to at least one motor vehicle device of a motor vehicle, characteristic vehicle data describing the motor vehicle device are determined in the motor vehicle, characteristic telephone data describing the mobile telephone are acquired by the motor vehicle device, and an evaluation device for evaluating the suitability of a mobile telephone described by characteristic telephone data for connection to a motor vehicle device described by characteristic vehicle data are made available in a stationary service center. The characteristic vehicle data and the characteristic telephone data are transmitted to the service center via a communication link between the motor vehicle and the service center that is established independently of the mobile telephone, in order to evaluate the suitability of the mobile telephone for connection to the motor vehicle device.
