  • Publication number: 20240102357
Abstract: A system includes rotational ball seat (RBS), remote operated, and electrical/hydraulic sections. The RBS section includes a spring, a first internal sleeve, and an upper RBS. The remote operated section includes a lower rotational ball valve (RBV) disposed between second and third internal sleeves, and a setting sleeve operatively connected to the lower RBV. During miming-in-hole, the upper RBS is in a restricted position, and the lower RBV is in an open position. The spring compresses the internal sleeves, which sandwich the upper RBS and the lower RBV, until a shear event occurs. An inner diameter of the system closes to facilitate setting of hydraulic equipment. Thereafter, the shear event releases the spring, thereby pushing the internal sleeves, the upper RBS, and the lower RBV downhole, which rotates the upper RBS and the lower RBV into open positions, thereby opening the inner diameter of the system.

  • Publication number: 20230407729
Abstract: A system for use in a well includes a liner hanger including a mandrel, a cone mounted about the mandrel, the cone having tapered slips, a plurality of tapered slips slidably received in the tapered slots, each tapered slip of the plurality of tapered slips comprising a plurality of teeth, wherein each tapered slip of the plurality of tapered slips and the corresponding tapered slot includes a setting ramp, and a loading ramp separate from the setting ramp, and an actuator mounted about the mandrel to selectively shift the plurality of tapered slips between a radially contracted position and a radially expanded, set position.

  • Patent number: 11821283
Abstract: A technique facilitates use of a liner hanger in a borehole. A port free hydraulic unibody system including an outer structure having a tubing hanger portion and a packer portion mounted about a mandrel may be constructed so as to avoid the creation of leak paths. A seal system may be employed between the mandrel and the surrounding outer structure to ensure sealing engagement therebetween. The mandrel has a port free section on the downhole side of the seal system, and this port free section is maintained during, for example, actuation of the tubing hanger portion so as to prevent formation of leak paths. An actuator may be located along the mandrel and may be configured to initiate actuation of hanger slips mounted along the tubing hanger portion. An anti-preset mechanism positioned along the mandrel works in cooperation with the actuator to prevent premature actuation of the hanger slips.

  • Publication number: 20230088984
Abstract: An electronic trigger system includes a longitudinal housing including detection, electronics, and actuation sections disposed therein. The detection section includes a pressure sensor for receiving a predetermined pressure signal, and an electronic control board including at least one battery is disposed in the electronics section. The actuation section includes a prefill chamber, a setting piston disposed in the prefill chamber, an actuation device, an atmospheric chamber, and a pressure port. A predetermined amount of prefilled fluid at hydrostatic pressure is trapped between the setting piston and the actuation device in the prefill chamber. The actuation device isolates the prefilled fluid at hydrostatic pressure in the prefill chamber from the atmospheric chamber.

  • Publication number: 20230072517
Abstract: A technique facilitates deploying and setting a liner hanger assembly while securely retaining liner hanger slips during running-in-hole. The liner hanger assembly may comprise a variety of components such as a mandrel, a cone, a plurality of slips, a retention ring, and an actuator. The slips may each be configured with an upper retention end and a lower retention end having a plurality of angles which interlock with corresponding angles of the cone and the retention ring. Additionally, a portion of the actuator may be sized to slide over an axial end of the retention ring to prevent inadvertent decoupling of the slips after installing the slips along the exterior of the cone.

  • Patent number: 7222557
Abstract: A ratcheting tool driver has a handle and a ratcheting body that includes a plurality of recesses for receiving a plurality of pawls having teeth formed thereon. A cover is axially secured to the ratcheting body and rotates relative to the body over a limited distance. The cover is formed so that it interacts with the plurality of pawls, which are operatively received in the body recesses so that they engage and disengage teeth formed on a socket ring. The socket ring contains a plurality of teeth on its outer circumference, is received in an axial bore formed in the ratcheting body, and operatively engages the pawl teeth.
