  • Patent number: 6986629
Abstract: A section (10; 110) is provided for the manufacture of hollow body elements, in particular for the manufacture of pierce and rivet nuts having a square or rectangular outline in plan view and a ring-like piercing section (36; 236) at a side confronting a component consisting of a sheet metal material or the like. The section (10; 210) is at least substantially rectangular in cross-section with two bars (14, 16; 214, 216) at the side (12; 212) later confronting the component. The bars are spaced apart and extend parallel to the longitudinal sides (18, 20; 218, 220) of the section, are likewise at least substantially rectangular in cross-section and form, in the finished element (11, 211), a feature providing security against rotation. The bars respectively each have an inclined flank (68, 70; 268, 270) at the inner side which forms an undercut (69, 71; 269, 271).

  • Publication number: 20050265804
Abstract: A first and second component joint includes using a fastener having a first end, and a flange having a diameter greater than a tubular barrel portion. A second end having a second tubular barrel portion merges into a shoulder of a flange part having a greater diameter than the barrel portion. The first tubular barrel portion is deformed radially outwardly sandwiching the first component between the flange and the first barrel portion. The second end of the fastener is introduced through a hole in the second component by applying the second component to the first component so the shoulder of the flanged part abuts the second component spacing the second component from the first component. The fastener device is fastened to the second component by deforming the second tubular barrel portion radially outwardly sandwiching the second component between the shoulder and the tubular barrel portion.

  • Publication number: 20030175074
Abstract: A method of attaching a pin-like element (10) for example a centering pin or a bolt element in a component (20), for example in the form of a plate or of a wall section of a housing, wherein the pin-like element (10) has a head part (12) with a larger transverse dimension and an end face (14) as well as a shaft part (16) with a smaller transverse dimension and wherein the head part merges via an at least generally radially extending contact surface (30) into the shaft part (16), is characterized in that an element (10) is selected having an axial length of the head part which is significantly smaller than the thickness of the component (20) at the point of attachment of the pin-like element, in that a stepped bore (22) is produced in the component having a first region (24) of larger diameter which receives the head part (12) of the element and a second region (26) which receives the shaft part (16) and has a diameter which is of the same size as or fractionally smaller than the diameter of this shaft part, w

  • Publication number: 20030145448
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing hollow bodies such as nut elements to be fastened to components that usually consist of sheet metal. The invention especially relates to a method for producing hollow bodies with an at least substantially square or rectangular outline by cutting individual bodies from a profile in the form of a profile rod or a reel after respective holes have been punched into the profile, and optionally afterwards producing a threaded cylinder. The inventive method is further characterized in that before or after the punching of the profile a passage treatment is carried out in order to produce a cylindrical or annular projection, concentric to the punching or the intended punching, on the side of the profile facing the component by flow of material. The projection is optionally shaped to an annular punched section in an additional molding cycle. The invention further relates to various hollow bodies, assembly units and molds for producing said hollow bodies.

  • Publication number: 20020153227
Abstract: Supply system 10 for delivery of elements 130, 150 to one or more users 12 comprising a forwarding device 76, 76′, 76″ which supplies the elements from a stored quantity 78 to a sorting device 70, 70′, which only permits elements having a predetermined position to pass and with a transport device 72, 72′, which transports the positionally correctly sorted elements 130, 150 to the user 12, characterized in that the forwarding device 76, 76′, 76′ forms part of a basic module while the sorting device 70, 70′ and the transport device 72, 72′ belong to an interchangeable module. In this way the components of the supply system 10 can be manufactured and used more rationally, whereby the investment costs sink and can be more quickly amortized.

  • Patent number: 6154025
Abstract: A position sensing device (2) has a magnetic field generating device (3) with at least one magnetic pole (4.sub.j) and a sensor device (5) with at least one sensor (6) with an enhanced, specifically a giant magnetoresistive, effect. The magnetic field generating device (3) is arranged with respect to the sensor device (5) in such a way that the direction of a normal (H.sub.1) to the plane of the sensor (6) runs at an angle different from zero with respect to an imaginary reference line (L.sub.1) on which the at least one magnetic pole (4.sub.j) is located, and the magnetic field generating device (3) is to be moved with respect to the sensor device (5) so that the magnetic field (h) of the at least one magnetic pole (4.sub.j) is detected by the sensor (6), causing a sweep through at least part of the sensor characteristic, with the number of sweeps determined by the number of magnetic poles detected.

  • Patent number: 4737641
Abstract: An apparatus for producing x-ray images by computer radiography has a storage plate on which x-rays are incident after passing through an examination subject, and an image reader for detecting the photo-stimulatable luminescence of the storage plate. The storage plate has a carrier which is impenetrable by the radiation beams used for detecting the luminescence, the carrier having two major flat sides each having a photostimulatable storage layer thereon. Each side has a read-out system associated therewith for double sided read-out of the storage plate. By undertaking a double-sided read-out, increased absorption of the x-rays in the storage plate can be exploited, and thus a correspondingly increased efficiency in the read-out can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 4703177
Abstract: An X-ray camera with a storage plate is used to generate an image to be read by a reproducer with an image reader to scan the photo-stimulated luminescence of the storage plate. Several detectors are provided, each being so correlated with several picture elements of a picture line that consecutive picture elements are each connected via a light waveguide of a first array of light waveguides to different detectors. In this arrangement, each photo-stimulated light signal of an adjacent picture element is processed by a different detector so that afterglow of the picture elements has no influence on the read-out time.
