  • Patent number: 9020995
Abstract: A method of data storage and retrieval using a relational database can include defining a first table in a relational database including a plurality of entries having a first value for a first field. A second table in the relational database including a plurality of entries can be defined. Each of the plurality of entries in the second table can specify an additional value for the first field of a corresponding entry in the first table. Responsive to a query, a data item selected from at least one of the plurality of entries in the first table can be presented.

    Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation
Inventors: Colleen S. Connearney, Michael W. Cross, John R. McGarvey, Christopher R. Seekamp, Ajamu Wesley
  • Patent number: 8359277
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of implementing information security. The method can include receiving a user input comprising a first user identifier and at least a second user identifier, determining whether the first user identifier corresponds to at least one of a plurality of existing user profiles, and determining whether the second user identifier corresponds to at least one of the plurality of existing user profiles. When it is determined that the first user identifier does not correspond to at least one of the plurality of existing user profiles, but that the second user identifier does correspond to at least one of the plurality of existing user profiles, the method can include selecting the user profile to which the second user identifier corresponds, automatically generating a unique user identifier, and associating the unique user identifier with the selected user profile.

  • Patent number: 7254583
Abstract: The present invention is a method, system and apparatus for generating parameterized installation scripts to accommodate the installation of multiple databases sharing similar physical constructs. The method of the invention can include the step of creating a database which can achieve the foregoing stated advantages of the present invention, a parameterized description of a physical data model can be first combined with a set of database specific properties to produce a physical database. A parameterized description of a logical data model can be second combined with the set of database specific properties to generate a logical model for the physical database. The first combining step can include the step of creating at least one bufferpool in the physical database as specified by the properties. Also, the first combining step can include the step of creating at least one tablespace in the physical database as specified by the properties.

  • Patent number: 4254403
Abstract: A system for transmitting information in an alternating current supply system wherein information is transmitted by reducing the instantaneous value of the supply voltage during a corresponding period in each of a selection of cycles of the supply voltage, the selection of cycles determining the information transmitted. To minimize disturbance of the system voltage the period of alteration includes a voltage zero. The alteration is effected by closing a switch connected across the system for the period the voltage reduction is required.
